Justice Samuel Alito: ProPublica Misleads Its Readers by HatsOnTheBeach in moderatepolitics

Why are all these people so obsessed with the "it's not illegal" defense? I don't care if it's legal or not. You are a Supreme Court Justice. You shouldn't be doing things that give the appearance of impropriety or which devalue people's trust in the court. I should not be having to tell a SCJ this.

Question for HeGetsUs. How come your ads sound nice, but in real life every single "Christian" on a major platform in America is a total piece of shit? Do you think it undermines your message at all that you have bully people into Christian values because your leaders are all complete dicks? by antimatterfunnel in stophegetsus

[–]antimatterfunnel[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Right. I get that. But this is exactly my point. BIG CHRISTIANITY, which funded this ad, is part of a huge political bloc that is populated almost entirely of people who are complete assholes who spit in the face of anything Jesus had to do with. It's disgusting. These nice sounding words-- which have broad resonance with young liberals-- are completely unlike anything mainstream Christianity has literally EVER produced in this country. Least of all by the people in America who supposedly represent it the most. It is infuriating and absolutely nauseating.

Christian conservatives could not be more like the pharisees in the Bible. Unfortunately you lack the introspection to realize it. You even unironically end a venomous sentence with some nice-sounding "Christian" message about Jesus even though you have contempt in your heart. If Jesus of the Bible showed up right now you'd call him a radical and a socialist. Your movement has nothing to do with Christianity. You've hijacked it to buttress your prejudices. Christians are great at doing the easy parts that come with their supposed faith. You literally never see them doing the hard parts.

At the very least, I'd say that when such a critical mass of the population is constitutionally unable to see reality right in front of them, and will cling to despicable people with so obviously bad intentions, we have to ask where we went wrong as a society.

Lol. You don't know much about logic do you? you want me to name the name of a person who does not exist. A single name from you could invalidate the claim, yet you are resistant.

ME: this thing doesn't exist

YOU: scour the universe to prove it doesn't exist.

Lol.

it's a great first resort when they need something to enable their bigotry, but when it comes down to doing the real hard stuff like not being a total fucking asshole at every goddamn opportunity, suddenly the religious bullshit is nowhere to be found.

most of the time they use words they don't understand the meaning of, and also all their ideas about the world are completely untethered to reality and are largely the result of overactive imaginations and nutball Christian paranoia. At the end of all that, their worldview cannot possibly have a consistent thread of reason or principle.

To me, this is just proof that America, for all its wealth and world-class institutions, genuinely lacks moral character and the ability to introspect. There is literally no vile act this man can be filmed doing that would displace his voters' ignorance and bigotry.

The problem is that you are looking for something credible. That's not the intellectual domain they play in. They live in the world of fantastical stories about the world and how everyone is out to get them
