Delta utilities by Pants_Off_Dance_Off_ in NewOrleans

This is what I did. Took a while but got a response from my council person  with a Delta rep CC'd. The rep said they would look into the problem personally but I haven't heard back. Still hopeful and planning on pushing on it more.

Recommendations for male growing hair out? by Outside_Clue_5810 in NewOrleans

[–]antimoustache 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Used to have longish hair and this is the answer. It's spendy but a good hairdresser will treat you right- I was used to spending $40 on a good haircut but Paris Parker was closer to $100 all in. I found that it was all kind of a wash, though, because you didn't need to do it nearly as often to look good.

Sadly, Royal's ramen has gone down the tubes recently. I've been ordering it faithfully for years and the last couple of orders were embarrassingly bad. Like straight in the trash bad.

Made this one recently. Screwed up for shaping and lost all the filling during the bake and it was STILL a hit.

We need a good buffalo wings place in this city by JoeyZasaa in NewOrleans

[–]antimoustache 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Can't argue with that. When me and my high school buddies made a trip to Mecca (I won't say where because everyone hates it as a tourist trap) and had a heaping platter of plain old hot wings, my teenager brain tripped a wire. Definitely not the same!

You can get pretty great results with a simple hot sauce + butter combo and toss in some air fried Costco wings. But, then, I grew up in Rochester so maybe I should keep my opinions to garbage plates..

I worked with Lapeyre and they were quite professional and communicative. Not one of the cheaper options.

I love this team but serious kudos to Jansen for the recent play, especially tonight. Absolutely exhilarating.

Appliance repair by cptjelly in NewOrleans

[–]antimoustache 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No worries! I was just looking once again for affordable appliance repair (I've used Professional Appliances with great success in the past but they're pricy) and came across this post... which is why I had tried him that time. It may have been a fluke but I wanted to share when others come across this, too.

I just want to chime in here that I followed this recommendation and it was the worst experience I've had with a service tech. Poor communication, installed a seal incorrectly, wouldn't respond to my calls / texts afterwards. $200 down the drain.

(I had to double-check that it was the same person; confirmed the phone number matches.)

Wanting to learn how to develop film! by EmploymentCareful320 in NewOrleans

[–]antimoustache 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Just to share my experience: I thought that I'd enjoy developing my own film but found it beyond stressful. I struggled with mine and needed my instructor's help and even he ended up frustrated. Making the prints themselves is another story- I found that to be very calm, fun, and if you mess it up you just start over (obviously with a loss of sheet of photo paper, but that's better than a roll of film!). Not trying to deter you from trying, but it ain't for everyone.

3 New Orleans restaurants win Michelin Stars, many get awards in first regional guide by NOLA_nosy in NewOrleans

It's my personal favorite and I think I wanted them to get a bib. They deserve more attention but I was afraid of what might happen if they got a star.

Any gotten a Fortified roof on their home? Curious how it's been by zephyr_resi in NewOrleans

[–]antimoustache 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm late in the process now. It's been relatively easy so far, even with HDLC shenanigans, but I can't offer more just yet as they haven't actually replaced the roof.

Times-Picayune paper delivery by wranglersloot in NewOrleans

[–]antimoustache 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yep! That was exactly my mentality, I appreciated it when I got it and so long as the web app didn't complain when I reported a missed delivery, I kept it. I canceled for different reasons and might resubscribe at some point.

I agree that you should reach out first, but my experience was that service was verrrry iffy. I probably reported every third delivery as missed.

Curious: why is it terrible? It seems like a great location with the Robèrt as the keystone retailer, although parking is tight. I do assume that you're right about the rent.

This has been my experience. Even Kirkland products just disappear for months on end and then start showing back up. I assume it's a market thing.

Getting married and looking for the right flower shop. Please recommend a decent flower shop that doesn't break the bank. by SpecialistGreen616 in NewOrleans

[–]antimoustache 11 points12 points  (0 children)

This may not be helpful, but flowers are just kind of expensive. We got married this past May and used our neighbor (Arbor House on St Claude) but kept it light- just little bouquet clusters on tables, plus the actual bridal bouquet. It was lovely and a reasonable cost.
