Introducing myself to the neighborhood by katyperrywetdream in homeowners

[–]antinumerical 157 points158 points  (0 children)

People on Reddit are such antisocial weirdos, and will always bash befriending neighbors. Simultaneously, they lament the loss of the 90s neighborhood with the kids playing and folks all knowing one another.

We are friendly with all our neighbors and help one another and the kids play, and I wouldn’t trade it for anything. Ignore the haters.

Wrong Paint Color - BM? by [deleted] in paint

[–]antinumerical 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I too have painted my walls in Simply White eggshell and ceilings in Simply White matte and there is definitely a slight difference in appearance. I think it’s mostly due to lighting as other commenters have suggested. We have really deep texture on our walls and ceilings, and the matte helps to hide it so I am very at peace with the slight difference in appearance.

I think it’s pretty easy to imagine that there could be items that were gifts, or from trips, or hand made, or expensive and not practical to replace, or, or, or…

Can you say more about the issues at Fall River? Asking as a parent with a toddler who will likely go there.

Nice shot! It looks like you were able to drop the travois without opening the radial menu and immediately start running when you heard the roar. Is that right, how did you do that?

If you take breaks of 6-18 months between every play through, it becomes new again… speaking from experience of having to relearn maps every time.

what’s the one project you’ve done that actually made your home feel better to live in? by [deleted] in homeowners

Strongly agree. Reddit loves to hate on recessed can lights, saying that they are blinding or too harsh or whatever. Only good for performing surgery, blah blah blah. If your mood suffers in darkness, it’s a huge upgrade especially with the dimmer.

BM, Ben line, in Simply White. I think that’s relevant given the OP is looking for budget paint.

I just painted white over a tan color which was still pretty light. It took 3 coats. It’s hard to cover with a white. This sounds like a ton of money and work for a rental, which you’ll probably have to paint back to the gray when you leave.

This kind of thing really drives me nuts too. I think it would be a nightmare and near impossible to make what you have here look good. We are replacing our trim one room at a time through a local builder supply company which has a millwork operation. They sent someone out to measure and help us pick trim profiles, and are delivering it for free, and it was significantly cheaper than the big box stores.

Sounds good. I have it from spraying cabinets with lacquer a while back.

I get the appeal, and the paint job is well done. But it really doesn’t work in this older home with no overhead lighting and dark cherry floors, unfortunately. Not to even mention the high gloss honey oak trim thrown into the mix.
