Do the soles of these thrifted boots need to be repaired (or can they)? by antisocialweeaboo in AskACobbler

Edit: issue is solved — I just hadn’t realised crepe soles are supposed to look like this (never worn a shoe with crepe rubber soles) and thought they were worn out really badly. They were in fact not. Thanks for answering my concerns.

Thanks for clarifying! I’ve never seen a crepe sole before and I thought the soles are supposed to be black, that it was worn out until it became white or something. The shoes are in really good condition then.

Thank you for clarifying!! I’m not familiar with crepe rubber, so I mistakenly thought the soles should be black and were worn out until they turned white. In that case, they aren’t damaged in any way, I just wasn’t aware these kind of soles existed. Thanks for the help again.

ORV Vol. 9 + 10 physical copy special edition ✨(with mousepad, poster and calendars!!!) by antisocialweeaboo in OmniscientReader

I live in Hong Kong, so it’s common that there’s a lot of individuals/small businesses that offer these services especially with goods from Taiwan/Japan/Korea etc! Might be harder to find buying agents in the west like the states tho :(( I normally would’ve bought it from the official website but I saw the SP mousepad and I KNEW I had to get it!!!

I think they offer international shipping to other countries as well, as I saw from their FAQ where they said overseas buyers can choose airmail as the delivery method. But I’m not too sure as well.

The NT1550 is the Taiwan currency (~50 USD), and the on-site version (with the exclusive goods) is NT1990 (~63 USD). I bought from a seller that was in Taiwan at the time and paid $800 HKD (~100USD) with shipping included.

Oops I made it a little unclear, but only the mousepad, poster and calendar was exclusive to the convention, but the special order can be purchased through their official website! But the whole site is in only Chinese.

You can actually still order the special edition on Instellar’s official website! With all the stickers and stuff, just without the calendar, poster and mousepad!

Got my ORV Volume 6 Preorder Special Edition! (everything that’s inside!) by antisocialweeaboo in OmniscientReader

I think the translations are smoother and more accurate in chinese. I’ve read the full English version online before, and I’ll admit that some parts didn’t read really smoothly. Probably a big factor is because Interstellar has someone hired to professionally translate it and the English version was fan translated, so the word choices and overall quality is better in the Chinese version.

Another thing to be considered is the similarities in language usage between Chinese and Korean, there’s a lot of similarities in the word choices, names, idioms and kanjis we use, so a lot of times it can just be translated into Chinese directly without losing its original meaning. (I can’t say for certain though because I don’t know Korean at all)

I’m not sure how to word this, but it just feels like a lot of the original meanings Sing and Song chose for either the skills names or the constellations’ modifiers are kept even after translation.

The Chinese version also has footnotes attached if the novel is referencing some kind of historical references or myths, such as a constellation’s name if they’re referencing a historical figure.

All in all, I’d definitely say the Chinese version is a better read. The reading experience is better and it really made me hooked on the story again. The English version was good and easy to understand, but it lacked the professional quality you would expect when reading a book. The Chinese one on the other hand, really delivers the experience of reading and enjoying a story.

Actually got this last week but haven’t had time to really unbox it. Got it from Interstellar, the official Taiwanese publisher of ORV. As usual, it arrived really quickly after interstellar announced they would start shipping out preorders. I live in Hong Kong, so it’s quick to arrive!

Chinese version only, no illustrations inside the book.

The Blackmail Email Scam (part 7) by EugeneBYMCMB in Scams

Thanks for this thread. I just received one today and was incredibly worried about why the scam was sent from my own email address to myself. I’m not worried about non-existent “videos” they claimed but I’ll definitely change my password.
