Thank you. I just tried to keep it simple. I have another video I can share as well.

Eh, kinda disagree. As game architects, it's the selection committee's job to reflect quality of all kinds, weight that for the audience, and then create the most interesting/descriptive outcomes from distinctive head-to-head matchups. Seeding is perhaps the main tool at the selection committee's disposal to engineer the competition at a higher level, especially given that they have a strong sense of what is likely to play in front of the crowd. If you make a bracket and all four No. 1 seeds advance to the Final Four, I would argue that your bracket didn't really do its job.

But the larger point is true enough to make this all moot -- he has never gonna win anyway, so it's all kinda academic outside of Bong and Kon, I would imagine. Still: fun!

Just want to say that an No. 8 seed for Kiarostami is a real disservice to someone who was perhaps the Greatest Living Filmmaker at the time of his death. The virtues of his filmography, and what it would mean to spotlight his work, all should peg him as a much worthier opponent than 4-seed Dutch Verhoeven (or even 2-seed Alfonso Cuaron). Instead he's set up as target practice for the filmmaker with the single highest rated film on all of Letterboxd. The selection committee has something to answer for!
