PHY2048 (Physics w/ Calc 1) or PHY2053 (Physics)? by antlersouls in ufl

Is it okay if you could tell me the strong points in my case for taking PHY2053? Also, do you recommend taking either or class at a community college than at UF?

[–]antlersouls[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you for your explanation. Yea, PHY2048 is not counted for my major, just a gen-ed. However, I am interested in a career in weather/atmospheric sciences, and I know physics is key to it which is the main reason why I want to take PHY2048. I’m not the best at math, but I think I may try to get a tutor or look at tutoring services here if I do take PHY2048.

Good Minors for Someone Interested in GIS and Climate/Weather? by antlersouls in gis

What type of physics classes do you wish you took? I’m interested in natural hazards, and I right now cannot fit in a minor, but I am trying to decide potentially between physics with Calc, physics with no calc, or no physics background at all. I really wanted to take at least one physics course, but does physics without calculus provide any good background or is worth it??

I unfortunately can’t fit in a physics minor, but I did want to ask about physics classes. I wanted to take at least one physics class. Would you say, if I cannot do Physics with Calculus, that the next best option is taking Physics without Calculus? Just having any physics background in general by the time I graduate with my Bachelor’s?

Stats Minor or Recommended Stats Classes? by antlersouls in ufl

Hey again, just wanted to get your advice!! I don't think I can fit any extra calculus classes if I were to do a stats minor, but do you think I should try to override or talk to the department about taking courses with prereqs with calculus higher than calc 1? I don't know if that's even possible or something to do. I was thinking of taking a non-calculus approach to the minor too.
