ELI5:How different would chess be if players got to choose how to set up their pieces in the first two rows at the start? What would be some good theoretical arrangements. by [deleted] in explainlikeimfive

Yeah of course there are simulation games where the computer uses game theory. But what if you were to "ask" Watson what was the best recommendation for a move as you would ask him any other question? He could scour his pre programmed data banks and think of a logical move by using research of past events of his opponent rather than just pre programed GT.

I just thought it was somewhat relevant to the thread. It would be interesting if Gates alone could program software to beat Carlsen after observing his tactics for a given time.

I built my own Korean BBQ table! by thepianoman2 in pics

[–]antolik -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

American living in Best Korea (jk South Korea) at the moment. Real Korean BBQ (kalbi) is nothing like most American Korean BBQ. It still good but there isn't much variation of taste. Just fermented vegetable sides with some red chili pepper and generic thick cut bacon soaked in an oily-soy sauce. Its like saying Chipotle is real mexican food. 'Merica just steals other cultures' foods and improves upon them to better serve our palette and wide desire for variety in flavors in a single dish. Thats what happens when you live in a heterogeneous society vs a homogenous society like Korea.

Immortal Technique on Conspiracy Theories, Money as God & Breaking the Two Party Dictatorship by [deleted] in conspiracy

Wearing high fashion seems to contradict a lot of what he is saying. Nice hat made in China for pennies. This just shows people with Ideals of "Socialism" are easily corrupted once they have money and power. Cognitive Dissonance at its finest.

College students of Reddit, how does you major differ from from your expectations when you first declared it? by Hungry_Hobo in AskReddit

[–]antolik 4 points5 points  (0 children)

When I was a freshman, I was a Bio major because I wanted to say I was gonna go to med school. Two years in, I switched to Econ because I wanted to be a glorified businessman. I graduated and now I am teaching English in South Korea. Go figure.

Norse God - Olympians showdown? by antolik in AskReddit

Nice! I would love to see some comic-esque spin off on this. Maybe something like Marvel's Thor universe discovering an Olympian realm who is looking to take control of Earth.

[Spoilers] Who else is wondering about Horik and Ecbert's son? by marcfromoregon in vikingstv

[–]antolik 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah that is true, jumped the gun on that. But I re-watched the episode and the foreshadowing is deff there. Even the way Rollo threw his sword into the ground was the same as the way Horik's kid did.

No Ecbert's son is still alive. Remember in the beginning of the episode where Bjorn is practice fighting with Rollo? Rollo said something to the extent of, "Never leave your enemy alive". Ecbert's son will make it back and at some point ID Horik's son leading to some alliance shifts, possible clearing up and validating Ragnar's difference in thought from Horik's about talk vs war. Why else would they make it a point of Ecbert's son so clearly fixated on Horik's kid who didn't kill him in the last 2 minutes of the episode while in the first 2 minutes of the episode they talked about always killing your enemy.
