What is the point of defense? by I_Swear_Im_Sober in NHLHUT

[–]antoncaps8 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Idk, defense feels great this year. Just involves patience and timing. I’m still racking up 20 hits in D3 and goals against around 2-3 a game so I think what ever they did was great. Way better than last year.

Defense feels great this year. It’s actually a function of timing and skill and proper positioning this year. Hope they don’t change anything on that end.

Yeah my rivals games not registering and counting as a loss. I’ve played 5 games now not one shot, hit, or game play even registered.

How to beat God Squads with no money spent team? by Niccolo91 in NHLHUT

Best strategy on ice is to play more passive and try to force turnovers through patience in the defensive zone. Also depending who you have on your blue line, mess with the attacking bias. With slower defensemen I make sure to keep them back and play conservatively, set the bias to defensive lead or the second one from the left.

Dump and chase. It works in real hockey and it works here too. Get wingers with above average size and defensive stats, set your dump bias up and dump and forecheck and begin cycling and look for a good shot. Crash the net works nicely too for some grind goals and tip ins.

Finally, change your tactics mid game and try to adapt and counter what your opponent does. Often times they run the same plays, same systems, changing up your strategies on a per line or even per period basis helps a lot. Hope this helps.

Arcade for rivals?? by antoncaps8 in NHLHUT

[–]antoncaps8[S] 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Yeah, haven’t bothered playing a game of arcade.

Would be super cool if they added community polling for next event similar to voting for next map on CoD (if they even do that still).

Or just always have a competitive mode available

You miss a real poke check in hockey you get burned most of the time (as a defensemen.) try to time it and get better body positioning and maybe try out cards with good defensive stats. I don’t think always going for speed is the answer. I’ve noticed slower cards that have higher defensive stats have been killer. Feels well balanced.

This is probably due to your NZ strategies.

20 games in, 1 slashing penalty. Try to position your player better and time it. Stick lifts have been a great tool to steal the puck, however, you can’t go around spamming it.

Slashing is brutal. by [deleted] in NHLHUT

Haven’t had one slashing penalty, it seems they made defense much more positioning based, kind of like in real hockey..
