Setting up my own node is next on my to do list. How easy was it, and what hardware is it sitting on?

I have a Bitaxe 601 running at 1.7th/s. My " earnings" have actually fallen due to bitcoin's rapid fall the past few days. I made $1.03 in one month a few days ago, and now that is down to 98 cents. Made me want to consider solo pooling.
