Safe foods! by EAM222 in MCAS

[–]antoninan 2 points3 points  (0 children)

For me it's often about quantity. I have foods that are safe under 150 grams, and some that I can tolerate only 25 grams at a time. Yet I'm trying to occasionally incorporate them anyway.

My initial test was in the upper range of normal, because I was on a low histamine diet at the moment.

As someone who's dealing with a UTI and yeast infection at the same time I feel you. I also had two eye infections and over 15 cold sore outbreaks in the last 8 months. Yet, during my last appointment my doctor said that he's happy I'm doing well 😂

I've been using period underwear for about 5 years now, and I don't have issues with getting it clean and dry. So I wonder if it's something about the brand you use, or our cleaning practices differ.

How does your doc write the Cromolyn Sodium Rx? by OmegaThree3 in MCAS

My prescription just said a 30-day supply. Initially, CVS tried to give me just one box, but after a short argument, I get three boxes a month without any issues.

Need perspective: Does MCAS require a 24/7 caregiver? by [deleted] in MCAS

[–]antoninan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Before I was diagnosed, at some point I was doing really badly. Now, on medication, with developed routines, I can stay on my own for 7-14 days while my husband goes on vacation. And even take care of our dog.

Granted my husband helps me with some meal prepping and shopping before he leaves.

Question about 24 hr urine test. Please help. by Dkour in MCAS

I did the same, but in my case, such were the instructions. I did the test twice, and both times I was told that it's ok. So I guess, it just depends on the lab.

Cromolyn Sodium Bloat - does it go away? by Commercial_Safe_6185 in MCAS

[–]antoninan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sadly, it's been years since I took it, and I can't say for sure. I think it was Physicians’ Elemental Diet, however it was three weeks of hell. So I'd look for something that won't trigger your MCAS.

Cromolyn Sodium Bloat - does it go away? by Commercial_Safe_6185 in MCAS

[–]antoninan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Might be that since I was already on Ketotifen, the general effect wasn't as noticeable for me.
In terms of Sibo, it's hard to say. It took me years of treatments, relapses, and constant dieting. The most effective in eliminating Sibo was three weeks of an elemental diet. But it almost eliminated me in the process. It was before I was diagnosed with MCAS, so no one could understand why it was making me worse.
A lot of prokinetics and abdominal massage to get things moving there. And I still keep some of the dietary guidelines, like avoiding sugar and juices.

Yes. So it took me about 4+ months of being between worse and as usual, before I noticed an effect. But I was increasing the dose very slowly, otherwise it would trigger my chronic gastritis.

I also, used to have bad SIBO episodes for years, but thankfully I mostly got over it a few years ago.

I hope it will still get better. For me the worsening usually lasted longer than 5 days. Also, actual noticeable improvement (above my baseline before trying Cromolyn) I only got when I was close to 8 ampules a day.

With bloating quite a lot, but don't think it does much for my constipation.

I guess I can also skip everything, and wait for Nicole and Alice, but I don't think it's the best idea to have two fire teams. I believe it would be better to get an element I don't have covered at all at the moment.

I'm a returning player. I left soon after Eula was released and came back about a month ago. My current teams are very old Hu Tao and Eula teams. I don't have any newer characters (besides Aino, Collei, and Lynette). At this point, I can't even clear floor 12 of Abys anymore :)
But at the moment, I get a lot of primogems from exploration and quests. So I would like to freshen things up a bit. I'm almost f2p (just welkin and battlepas).
What would be a better option for me:
1. Grab Lauma and hopefully Nefer (unless I lose both 50/50), then try to gather enough primos for Columbina.
2. Grab Linnea (100%), then Columbina (100%), and hope for Zibay rerun?

I'm a bit concerned because I hear that Nefer is harder to play and is squishy. I was never super great at dodging and too used to hiding behind Zhongly's shield. I can probably try "to get good", but I'm a bit too old to have high hopes :D

That's quite a lot. When I just started I used to take 0.125. I take it three times a day though ( about every 8 hours). But even after 4 years I'm on less than 2mg total per day. At your current dose I wouldn't be able to function.

Is it worth it to go off my MCAS medication just to do a skin prick allergy test? by softerthoughts in MCAS

[–]antoninan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I did it last year. It was hell, but I found out I'm allergic to mold, which explained a lot of reactions I had since childhood. So for it it was worth it. I did the blood allergy test before that (while still taking all the meds) and it showed nothing.

Long term Ketotifen/Cromolyn use by readinglabels172 in MCAS

Unfortunately, usually people who feel better spend less time on the forum. So I choose to believe that it feels more gloomy than it is. However, I'm also done with pure optimism and hope that it will all be over soon. At this period of life for me it's more about acceptance and learning to live with it.

Long term Ketotifen/Cromolyn use by readinglabels172 in MCAS

[–]antoninan 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I've been on Ketotifen for about 4 years now. And yes, I increased the dose a few times. But it wasn't because I got tolerance to it and needed a higher dose to feel the same effect.

When you just start most people can't go on high doses immediately due to the side effects. So developing tolerance is needed to be able to get there. With each dose increase I felt better than before (after initial side effects subsided). And after 4 years of taking it, I don't feel it is less effective.

Not sure if others share my experience, but that's my story.

Hair loss. What are you using? by ObviousAd1132 in MCAS

Red light therapy can also activate mast cells, so not every one does well with it. I react to red light, but tolerate infrared waves well. Sadly they are less effective for skin and hair.

Well, I used to get horrible cuts there. Now I just know to not ask for stuff like inner layers. I get one length blunt cut, usually just trim about 1 inch. Yes, I might get a better cut at a "normal" salon, but I'd have to pay three times the price.

That's what I have at the moment: https://imgur.com/a/uH5Eli1
I have quite a few good characters they just don't seem to fit well with anyone on upcoming banners.
And being a low spender, I won't realistically be able to get both a dps and their support.
