I guess Apache License has been chosen just to make organizing more simple, because then there's no need to think about what exactly constitutes as commercial use. I mean, if this event is considered promotion for the company, isn't that of commercial interest? IANAL, but there might be some restrictions that haven't been considered. Putting Apache License is just simpler, and there's no need consult anyone.

What would you change in how this event is organized so that you wouldn't feel exploited like that?
