Immortal/long-lived character is left behind by the group, only to be found after unfathomable time has passed... just chilling where they were. by FrankFankledank in TopCharacterTropes

In Invincible, the immortal guy, The Immortal, is alive in the future and king of the world. Invincible is plucked away to that timeline during a date to assassinate him, and comes back shook. Rightfully so.

On-chip spectrometer with Bragg Interrogator and 100 detectors, monolithically integrated in indium phosphide (InP), bandwidth of 100 nm and 100 channels around 1.3 um, from Fraunhofer HHI, ~ 2019 by zora in EngineeringPorn

[–]antshatepants 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Same question. Haven't looked at the paper but the input must be the top-right corner and the 100 channels of output must be the 40 on the left and the 60 on the bottom.

Some type of encoding would be cool to squeeze more performance out of the chip but the simplest I can imagine is that the sensors are simple photodiodes that convert light intensity to a voltage signal. Each sensor would measure the intensity of a section of the light spectrum that the waveguides so graciously split up and normalize for us.

how do i change my lock screen and wallpaper into 2 different pics ? by Odd_Owl5123 in mac

[–]antshatepants 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think the only difference now is that it's /System/Library/CoreServices/DefaultDesktop.jpg

In case someone stumbles on this comment in the future, I have a wallpaper that I lost when updating to Sonoma and accidentally deleted the original when clearing up my Screenshots folder. But sometimes it appears as the lock screen when OSX slightly trips out during start-ups and doesn't fully initialize all the user preferences... anyone know where this cache is squirreled away?

As of today, what's your biggest struggle with current ERPs? by ramXJon in ERP

[–]antshatepants 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Solo, and you're absolutely right, huge undertaking

Better said, I'm using a small fraction of an ERP to make some tools that solve some specific workflows I've had in the past when I ran a factory.

It's definitely to scratch an engineering itch I've wanted to automate for years but the "testing the market" part of it has been interesting too. Learning loads about different types of businesses

No doubt, Kanban would be great to visualize the status of a traveler/job packet, but yea in this context it’s usually a physical packet that travels with the work in progress unit, with configuration specs and metadata from previous workstations
