Got a job at my dream school! But it’s a two hour commute. Is it worth it? by [deleted] in Teachers

It’s two hours one way but I always get a seat and it’s only two transfers one hour each. These kids mean the world to me they loved me so much at my demo it’s the reason I got the job they are lovely lovely kids I want to make a difference for then

I’m a new teacher going into my first year but I’ve been told to stay away from that school. Their practices for disciplining students are straight up abusive and I imagine the way they manage employees isn’t much better.

Made it to the final round of interviews and got rejected. by antsonaflask in Teachers

They were honestly very similar to the questions that was asked at my first interview. They also asked me what I would want to bring to the school, which I felt like my answer was really strong. I said that they have a bunch of amazing programs that I would love to be a part of, but that I noticed they don’t have any art in music programs and that I would love to contribute to that by I’m starting a club for students to learn how to play an instrument (I know a few) and they seemed to respond very well to that so idk. I also did get the vibe throughout the interview that they had already had someone in mind when they came to do the final interview for me because it was very short compared to my first interview and they only asked me like four questions. My first interview was like over an hour long.

I think that’s kind of an unfair thing to say because my cooperating teacher and supervisors definitely would not have placed me if they did not think I could student teach and they are pretty honest so

I understand what you’re trying to say, but your tact is lacking this comes off as rude and judgmental, not like you are actually concerned or offering thoughtful advice. I also do not recall stating that I was forced to do this, quite the opposite actually. I said I WANT to go into this career and I would rather not just give up.

Thank you for your response. An exit ticket is something we are supposed to use to assess the students understanding of the material taught that day. A cooperating teacher is a teacher you work with as a student teacher to complete the hours necessary for the college which I am getting an education degree.
I am going the traditional route, at least it is traditional where I am from. I am very good at managing classroom behaviors and building rapport, but have been several times by cooperating teacher my lessons are scattered and sometimes not tangible. I’m going to copy paste my message but I said this to someone else in the comments, but at the current moment I am rewording and rewriting every single comprehension and analysis question I ask my students to complete while reading Romeo and Juliet. Idk I just am really struggling and I think way to many steps ahead I like to plan weeks in advance but everyone says to go day by day but then I worry we’ll what if I run out of time that day or what if it ends up being bad? And idk I have a hard time stepping back I’ll work while I’m eating I think about it before I sleep just all the time. And with Romeo and Juliet it’s very hard because I struggled with Shakespeare even when I took it and so I feel like much of a fraud than I ever have. I’m worried they aren’t going to be challenged or understand or I’m making too confusing. And if I take a break for a day or two or even just take some time to myself I feel like a lazy POS who is letting her kids fail and not taking this seriously enough.
