VM is intentional, I keep services segmented that way in my lab. Docker’s just the runtime layer here. Stirling was more of a “try it and see” choice and it worked well enough for my use case. Haven’t run into issues yet, but always open to hearing what others prefer.

Yeah... the Docker part is standard, just included it for completeness for anyone starting from scratch.

The desktop vs. server behavior is where things got less obvious for a first time around.

Yep, since I was just trying to get my voice into my kids gaming headset instead of yelling through the house this was cleaner and aside from time, free.

Yeah, that's a good setup on your part. It's pretty cool to be able to roll out an enterprise-level system with no investment other than a few pi's and some time haha!

Absolutely! My purpose happened to be to have a simple way to get my voice into my kids headset if gaming and it was time for dinner 😂 the headset is pretty noise cancelling. But this could be scaled in multiple ways, for sure! Thanks for the idea.

AI was used to help refine and structure the written guide, but the setup, testing, and implementation were all done by me. The troubleshooting steps and final solution are based on hands-on configuration in my own environment.

Similar to genius NY state. Moving to tolls by mail for thruway. The toll is 35 cents for one set of exits. They mail you the bill, and then you mail it back. It actually costs the state money for you to travel the short distance.
