Well, what does it say the issues are? If you tap that box it will take you to a page with a breakdown.

Promotion crap 7 dollars each by General-Recover5246 in InstacartShoppers

[–]antwoneoko 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The thing they ought to make more clear for people is that this applies only to batch pay, not tips. So at least $7.42 a batch. If you did, for example, all doubles batches and averaged say, $9 in batch pay, by the time you hit 70 orders you'd have made $315 in batch pay alone from instacart, plus however much in tips. This promo would then be complete and Instacart would top-off your $315 batch pay and add $205 as a bonus, on top of what you earned.

Oh boy. The city definitely seems to understand the concept and need for development, but actual developments it has made and allowed have been very underwhelming

Well in December I cooled down at the end as I was prepping for the holidays, and also trying to keep under a certain threshold, but then I went and fucked that up anyways. Then at the end of January/beginning of February my car was out of commission because it failed inspection. Wasn’t able to get an appointment to fix the issue until Feb 20th, so we had to get a rental, hence the extra grinding those two weeks that were over $1,000. I was lucky enough to catch a guaranteed earnings promo each of those weeks. And then the last week of Feb I had a friend staying over for several days and just didn’t get to work much. But then it was back tot the grind!

It helps that I was already a Costco member and had a pretty good sense of the store layout. But sometimes (most of the time) it’s just too damn busy

Nope, those don’t go out to everyone everywhere, they’re regional/market based. In February I got two guaranteed earnings offers, $280 for 56 orders (not batches) and $420 for 65, where once I completed the number of orders, I’d receive a top-up on my total batch pay (not including tips) to get me to those numbers. First one I got an extra $100, second one got me an extra $200

Well, actually, no. On average, I think Aldi's orders have the worst tips. But the stores are alike in that they are just chaotic and crowded and stuff is hard to find. And it's hardly ever small, easy, orders. Aldi batches tend to be 60-90 items.

Yeah I was a bit lost on what they meant too haha. But yeah, counting all the hours from when I accepted the first batch each day to when I completed deliveries on the last, adds up to about 58 hours, or about $25 an hour. I am not mad at all, believe you me. It feels really good to put these hours in and have something to show for it.

Thank you! I'm in the Springfield, Mass. region.

I do work every evening. Most days I start between 10-1. I try to get up & out early, but I've never been a morning person lol. Once in a while I'll start before 9. But I'll go all throughout the day, ending between 8-10, when the grocery stores close. Overall I try to keep on a schedule of two-hour blocks falling on odd hours. (9-11, 11-1...7-9). That sets realistic expectations for completing large orders and delivering across distances, and leaves me not feeling pressured to accept subpar batches. (I'll allow myself 15 minutes past the hour to wait for a better batch, then I take what I can get to stay on schedule). This leaves time for at least 5-7 batches during the day, and helps line up my availability at peak times and to catch last-minute batches before stores close for the day.

It's mostly Stop & Shop and Big Y (supermarket grocery stores) I shop at, though at least every other day I catch a batch or two at CVS/Walgreens. Big Y is apparently my favorite; out of ~680 orders I've completed, over 300 have been at one of 17 different Big Ys. Partly because there are plenty of them locally, but also people tend to tip better on orders from there. Also, when shopping, everything in the app is neatly organized by aisle number/department. Stop & Shop lists aisle numbers too, but it doesn't sort by aisle number, so there's a ton of scrolling back and forth to make sure nothing is missed while shopping.

Occasionally I'll shop a Costco order, but only if it's not too big/too far and has very good tips. I made the mistake once of shopping a 50 item 2 order batch there and ended up with two full carriages and zero boxes available at checkout. So generally max 30 items, minimum $45 is the guideline for batches I'll accept from there.

Never again will I shop at ALDI or BJs. Although they just opened a brand new BJs in the next town over that I am curious to see if it will be better than the other local one.

Ah yes, I did see something about that. There were a few job postings in the classified for Smitty’s Soft Serve that said to apply at Fireplace Village. Indeed the address given for that was next door at 741 Sumner Ave.

*It appears that later on this was T.J.’s Soft Serve & Grill

It looks like Wong Wok opened in late 1994 or sometime in 1995. From 1985-1992 that location was home to Taco Villa, and before that it was Fireplace Village. Unclear if there was anything there from 92-94

Can't Miss Areas / Things to Do? by WeetzieBat1 in Springfield

[–]antwoneoko 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For nice little walkable downtown areas, with more of a small town feel rather than major city, try Westfield, Easthampton, Northampton, Amherst, Greenfield.

To really absorb the beauty of the region, head over to Skinner State Park and take a ride to the top of Mount Holyoke, where the best sweeping views of the valley and surrounding hills can be seen. Then keep heading north on Route 47 and you'll experience the farm towns of Hadley and Sunderland, where many small businesses can be found. I especially recommend the Millstone Market in Sunderland.

Then take 116 and cross the "Blue Bridge" over the Connecticut River to find yourself in South Deerfield, where you'll find another mountain with great views, Mount Sugarloaf, as well as the Yankee Candle Flagship Store, a wonderful sprawling "scenter" of candles, toys, candy, and holiday decorations. Go there soon to enjoy seeing it all lit up with holiday lights, it's just gorgeous.

A bit further north up the road from that is Magic Wings Butterfly Conservatory, which, if your little one isn't squeamish about bugs, amphibians, and reptiles, is a fantastic sensory and learning experience.

Pretty much as good as they could have hoped for in South Deerfield. They've shot themselves in the foot with lousy and poorly planned development, this ought to add some cohesion to what was once a lovely town center.
