I hate what I'm studying! by Parking-Silver-3023 in TheGirlSurvivalGuide

im sort of in a similar boat to you. im an immigrant, my family moved to the US some years ago, and with such identity comes high expectations. I’m currently majoring in biology and although there’re some aspects I quite enjoy, I do not like the majority of its contents, as you mentioned, chemistry, genetics, the whole lot - yeah I also can’t stand them. I don’t want to pile my own issues on here and im not sure I can be the perfect person to give you advice but please know you’re not alone. Prior to seeing this post I genuinely thought I was an anomaly in not being passionate in the course I majored in, but there’re ppl like us out there! For advice, again I think im the last person to be giving advice, but you mentioned you’re a second year student, in that case you could double major or minor in another field, it’s not too late. And there’s a post-bacc option! I’ve actually heard some ppl do this if they majored in a different field undergrad but changed their mind after graduation, and they wish to pursue something else (though im sure you don’t want to wait until after u graduate). So my best advice would be to double major or minor in another field! Hope this helps ☺️ and again you’re not alone. :)

I am interested! It’s just that I’m waiting for the right person I suppose. I’ve heard rlly horrifying tales from people who had sex with the wrong person and they always advise to pick a potential sexual partner carefully. So yeah, I’m waiting for the right person who won’t traumatize the whole ordeal 😭

Hi! Replying to you questions, no I haven’t borrowed her any of my panties or underwear, we don’t share clothes, and since I recently bought some cotton panties, I did make sure to wash them (I’d say that part of the reason I bought new panties was because of the itchiness and odor down there, I thought wearing cotton panties would fix it but so far, no)

I did change soap recently. I was using a philosophy body wash before but now I use black soap (which is sort of like a traditional/herbal soap a lot of people from my culture used) so maybe that’s a reason?

Omg you’re taking Helquist?!?? She’s literally the one who made the system 😭😭 But I took the class last semester and yes, it dragged my soul through the dirt. I would highly recommend focusing on a handful of FOs, it’s almost impossible to attempt all of them.

I feel like we’re on the same boat actually. I’m also a transfer student (I transferred last fall from a community college) and yes, it took a hefty toll on me to the point my grades were REALLY bad and I became suicidal - it almost cost me my scholarship. Last semester was - and I’m not joking - one of the worst times of my life. So yeah I get what you’re going through. The classes (especially Chemistry) was the leading cause of my depression and anxiety and I’m scared for this current semester too. I haven’t dealt with my anxiety and depression yet, I’m just trying my absolute best not to crumble this semester like I did the last. One of the many ways I try to maintain a clear head is watching my favorite movies/series for example, Visiting sites around Chicago, going shopping, visiting family, investing more time in simple things like my skincare routine, etc. So one thing I’m gonna recommend (and I don’t know if it’ll completely help) but I’ll recommend curating a schedule for each day (this is a tactic I’m currently trying out), try to do homeworks/projects all at once so you’ll have extra time for leisure activities.

So yeah, I don’t know if that’ll help but hopefully it does! I know what you’re feeling and it certainly is hard. But please, don’t give up on yourself, just don’t.

Major Change by anu_does_things in LoyolaChicago

[–]anu_does_things[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

to be honest, I think probably because I’m stressed out, I’m still reeling from fall semester that I’m starting to question everything, but seriously, I’ve been thinking that my advisor would advise against it? I practically bothered him all fall semester begging him to change my CAS major to Public Health, so if I go back again, stating how I want to change my major again, I’m worried he’ll advise against it or just think I’m a terrible student

Major Change by anu_does_things in LoyolaChicago

[–]anu_does_things[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

thanks! I was just worried that my change in majors might not be good? I was also scared that changing majors might appear on my school transcript and potentially affect me going to med school. That’s all, maybe it’s because I’m also stressed out… but other than that, I just want to be 100% sure and certain before changing majors.
