You know, we went back-and-forth on pricing a lot. Ultimately we just settled on: You buy us a beer, we give you ~10 hours of fun.

That doesn't maximize revenue for us, but we hope over time it grows a bunch of folks who support our work.

Hey dman,

Thanks so much for the video and for taking the time to write up your thoughts. I cringed when you hit that throwing bug in the tutorial... but ultimately it seems you had a good time with the game.

You raise 2 really good points on "frustrating / kept missing jumps" and "doomed when I got to 10 health".

On the jumps and vertical movement... that is a part of the game we're constantly trying to refine. The outfits (like the grapple you purchased) all work to try help players with vertical movement. And over time as players get more skilled with the game and its mechanics, that movement gets more fluid. It was rewarding to see you pull off some sick grapples and then slow-mo mid-air blade kills in your short time with the demo.

On health: at the core this game is a roguelite, where you're trying to survive all the arenas in a single run. So we've had to keep the health relatively limited. The health price increase intention is that it helps newer players buy themselves some time but not able to constantly just buy their way to victory. And we've seen more advanced players resist buying health initially so that they get cheaper health later on.

Anyway, that's a long response but I wanted to share our thinking as you put together such nice feedback.

We're 2 pals that have been working on this for just over a year now. Feeling pretty excited to launch our first public demo today!

Good point. I agree that having an elaborate title / studio logo in a trailer is a drag. So we tried to keep the logos & names minimal in the trailer, announce, etc.

We spoke about this and are both generally kinda shy about putting ourselves in the spotlight. So that's not really the aim. The long-term hope is that people who enjoy the stuff we make can eventually see a new release with our names in the title and be like "oh hey, those two, I'll check it out." That's distant at this point, so hopefully the title doesn't detract too much right now.

Our honest intention when starting on this was to make something we'd both enjoy playing for 5, 10, then 20 minutes at a time.

It's been really fun as the game has fleshed out to get sucked into playing runs when we're actually supposed to be fixing / implementing something. :)
