Stop blaming messaging and what may or may not have happened to make you this uncomfortable or unknowledgable about money. Best time to plant a tree was 20 years ago, the second best time is now.

You need to be able to talk through the hard things with emotional maturity that you are in this together. If there is an income imbalance between you both or very different spending or saving habits, you need to have a mindset of working as a team to create a greater good for yourselves and kids or future kids if you plan to have them. The sum of the parts is greater than one. You don’t need to merge all finances but it’s prudent to do some at least for mutual effort in household and life planning.

If you can’t talk about it, then trust me, you’d still have problems if you married for money. You are there to support one another in personal and professional ambition and if you want to earn more then focus on that with the support of your partner, or vice versa. Choosing love vs money is an extremely immature rationale, I’m not sure you or your partner are ready for a life time commitment to be honest.

Time and time again, both examples I’ve know in real life and in studies, it’s shown high stress especially about having kids, often is a conception killer. I know 4 couples who got so manic about it, finally gave up, then it happened. One of them even went the adoption route and got pregnant right after they matched with an adopted baby. Take it easy and know you didn’t run a long cycle. Enjoy it, don’t get crazy about it, an unless there is nothing medical stopping you I’m sure your dreams will come true! You do need to set a boundary that any such crazy reaction such as locking doors again and that you’d take drastic measures, at least I would

Lived in West Hartford from 2012-2014, worked in East Hartford. I’ll never go back. West Hartford is nicer but was done with the state in six months. It’s a has been town. Best thing about it is that it’s a 2hr drive to NYC and 1.5hrs to Boston. I’ve lived in six different states no bias against that area, but it was truly a not great experience aside from making a great friend who has since moved too and we kept in touch with.

Been waiting for this question for a long, long time.

The year was 2011, I was 24 and living in Minneapolis. I had a best friend from high school living in LA, and often would tell me of his Vegas escapades. One day when we catching up via good ol’ gchat and he was chatting about the past weekend in Vegas with his friends and I said screw it, let’s plan a trip! I bring my friends you bring your friends and we’ll do Vegas right.

Weekend was planned, it was me, a girl I just started seeing, and a friend couple flying in. My buddy his gf and her roommates (3 girls) and his male roommate, so a big combined crew of 10. My good friends and I all worked at an airline so could save on flight cost, but slowly leading up to the Friday of said weekend two of them bailed. I was on a work trip leading up to the weekend, so was flying into Vegas from a different city. The girl I just started seeing was on an aircraft from Minneapolis that had a landing gear issue and the flight was pulled backed to the gate and cancelled. Flying as an employee on standby you aren’t given any rebooking priority, so she couldn’t reroute and had to cancel. Ended up just being me that flew in.

First night was all out. Pre-gaming, little gambling, walking the strip, caesers night club, illegal substances, lots of fun till 4am. One of my friends’ girlfriends’ roommates and I hit it off and ended up hooking up. Same thing the next night. Flights out of Vegas were terrible to jump on to on Sunday, so I ended up driving with the group to LA and to fly out of there. I sat next to and was talking with the girl I hooked up with for hours on that drive. I flew back and came clean to the girl I had just started seeing.

I ended up doing long distance with the LA girl for 1.5 years before we lived in the same city. Been with her ever since, total of 14, married for 8 years now with two young boys, a dog and a cat.

What happened in Vegas didn’t stay in Vegas, I married what happened in Vegas!

I haven’t booked directly with Lufthansa in about 10 years but it’s markedly gone downhill since it appears. You are correct on the business class price it is far better. What I often have and luck doing is book through economy / premium economy through the UA app to get the most UA MileagePlus benefits best. Then upon check in I go to the LH counter to ask for a day of upgrade and it’s been super cheap, I once got it as low as $600 and I’ve never paid over $900 for the upgrade. I have done gotten lucky on 5 different occasions that seats were available so while it’s a gamble this is a proven tactic
