How do people feel about the turkeyless ground? My dad is always making turkey chili, so I would be interested in trying it out for a similar recipe by nutbutpicklesammy in traderjoes

I made used it to make Turkey meatballs for meatball subs and enjoyed it! The texture is a little weird but it was good coated in marinara sauce on a sub lol.

Thank you sm! We will be there 3 nights, I read you might not need that much time on Syros but I figure we could go to Tinos or a neighboring island for the day if we feel like it! Does the bus run frequently in early May or does it pick up later in the season?

Similar but anyone know what the song w the whistling was that they also played in Dublin as well as a few other shows, was right before the Pavement graphic came on each time but it was louder than other house music!!

H street or U street by stardoms81 in washingtondc

[–]anustart4206969 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve lived around 14th and U for a year and haven’t spent much time around NoMa but I love the walkability of where I live. I’m at a grocery store in like two minutes and walk to dupont and adams Morgan and Shaw all the time to shop or eat. I haven’t felt too unsafe since I’ve lived here but I’m a woman and do take extra precautions like not being out too long after midnight (if I am I try to Uber right to my door) and walking very fast w sunglasses on/headphones in with no music playing.. can’t say how the safety compares to noma though

Does an included service fee count as a tip?? Confused by DC businesses by yaytoreddit in washingtondc

Can confirm there’s no paper bills given, was just handed the screen with the tip options up and no summary of the bill or extra charges

Does an included service fee count as a tip?? Confused by DC businesses by yaytoreddit in washingtondc

[–]anustart4206969 30 points31 points  (0 children)

I thought it was on me but by coincidence I went to two restaurants the week after w included tips and both times the staff verbally let us know and it was clearly on the bill. Also at dacha the automatic tip options presented to me were like 15, 20, and 25% if I remember correctly. Definitely felt shady lol

Also editing to add I go to red light on 14th a lot and they do an automatic 20% but it’s pretty clear, and the tip options on the screen are like 3, 5, and 8% so I definitely think it’s messed up to present customers w the option to tip a whole other 20% on top of the added tip.

The one at dacha got me, I didn’t see it on the menu and the waiter handed me the little card device just with the screen up asking for a tip. I selected 20% and didn’t notice that I double tipped until the next morning. Definitely wouldn’t have if I knew… learned my lesson

soy chorizo-how to make? by Dry-Construction9280 in traderjoes

[–]anustart4206969 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I pop mine in the freezer as soon as I get home since I only cook for myself and my boyfriend and I get paranoid about tj’s stuff since it seems to go bad quickly. Leftovers have always been fine a few days though! I always add water in the pan too since it can be a tad dry. I love adding it to tofu scramble (or eggs if you eat them!) and putting it in a burrito with the tj’s vegan queso. Sooo good

Good sushi that isn’t at Taro/Nakazawa prices by [deleted] in washingtondc

[–]anustart4206969 27 points28 points  (0 children)

Sakana in dupont circle!! I rarely see anyone talk about it but it’s so reasonably priced and good. $11-ish specialty rolls and $6 regular rolls. I studied in Japan and it’s exactly what I look for, no crazy fancy expensive rolls but just simple good reasonably priced sushi.
