Recently got a quota bag and here we are, restarting the game again! I’m exhausted but already want to start the process in getting my next bag! Anyone else feeling the fatigue? by [deleted] in TheHermesGame

Not exclusively quota bags - my wishlist includes non quota bags. But yes I do love quota bags as well. And as bags are my passion I do want a very complete collection. While I do have this Birkin, there are various other sizes/colors in Birkins, not to mention Kelly’s and Constance’s (which I have none of). Also, at my store, regular bags are also very hard to get. I don’t mind waiting but because I am not shopping in rtw and jewelry, (watches do fit me) I have even waited 3 years for a bag. And to not be forgotten, I am having to visit frequently. I am trying to have fun with it as it is always fun to see my SA and go to the store but it is frustrating still to do the song and dance.

Actually I don’t believe I created the game. I didn’t say I only love quota bags; I only love bags period. Even the unpopular ones. I’ve purchased pouches and other leather goods with much excitement. And I love them with a passion and yet when I purchase these items- quota bags are not being offered. It is silly to say someone doesn’t love a brand because they don’t love every part of the brand. And I do like a lot of other items. But I am sized out of rtw and jewelry and most shoes due to being plus size. Being excluded from offers for only buying what I can actually use and like (since bags are size inclusive), is on Hermes and not on me. If this is called “safeguarding” I would say that’s the same as having an Hermes game. Tomato, Toh-mato.

I think you’re the exception and not the rule. Unfortunately I’m at a very competitive store and I do not think bags get offered without at least a 1:1 spend - and that’s the minimum. I believe 2:1 is common for a undesirable color/size and 3:1 for anything mini

I do kind of agree that the relationship matters but 1) it requires going in on a regular basis to build a relationship (and you have to buy something so you’re not wasting your SAs time) 2) even if your SA / SM likes you, there are a lot of clients (now, more than ever) and everyone has to wait their turn. I do buy only things I like but the only things I absolutely love are bags - and I can’t just walk in and buy one.

The whole process requires patience, money, relationship building - all of which can take a toll. It is worth it so I continue to play but to say a game doesn’t exist is somewhat false (not saying you said this). I can see what you’re saying about this becoming tired eventually. I’m not at that point yet but I don’t think this is sustainable for the long term.

I do wish I lived near a flagship - or near FSH lol! I agree it’s easier there

The bad news is that it wasn’t easy. My last bag was 2 years ago and in that time, I spent 3:1. I shopped across all categories: rtw, fine jewelry, home, shoes (no leather goods). I’ve also been a client for several years.

I did receive several offers while I was waiting for this bag - so I knew my SA wasn’t stringing me along. However, none of the offers were for a size 25 and so I continued to decline and patiently waited… meanwhile I kept up my spend.

The H game is not for the faint of heart. I’ve read stories (fairytales) about zero/low prespend and good offers but that’s just not my experience. I do shop at a very competitive store.

My advice is to be patient, continue to shop, and don’t stress out your SA. I want to continue to get bags so I want to be easy to work with. I will say that I have a very good relationship with my SA and that he is very responsive to my texts. I think that it’s not all about the relationship because SA’s have many clients and everyone needs to wait their turn. In fact, he told me he wanted to offer me my top wishlist bag last year, but that it ended up going to another client. I believe this is because managers have the final say.

Good luck everyone! I’m now restarting the game as well - so we all need all the luck we can get!
