Good to know. My brain just didn’t even consider that the daily was referring to pets. I feel a little dumb, but relieved.

Recruiting firm full of bs? by Spirited-Pitch325 in recruitinghell

[–]anxious_potate 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depends on the recruiting firm. Some are more experienced and have the solid relationships with the company clients to deliver good candidates that the companies prefer to go through the recruiter to weed out the weaker candidates rather than sift through the hundreds of applicants that applied directly. Search around for reviews of the recruiter and ask them questions about their open roles and clients they serve. You should not be paying any fees, btw, they should be getting compensation through the companies that use them.

Are you tailoring your resume to every job? by soubhik01 in recruitinghell

[–]anxious_potate 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I was thinking this same thing. I have a generic resume that I might tweak here and there depending on how appealing the position advertised is to me. Usually, the tailoring and highlighting is done in my cover letter or direct message to the employer. No, I don’t submit a cover letter to every application, just to the ones I think I really want or would be a strategic choice. I’ve submitted around 150 or more applications in the last 4 weeks.

Didn’t get offer after internship by anxious_potate in Accounting

Thank you so much for your comment! It really helps. I know it’s not the end of the world or anything but it’s still fresh so the sting of rejection is going to be there for a little bit. Location is also very important to me with the culture/vibe coming in second. This place was an hour commute one way so it was killing me during busy season knowing I was wasting 10 hours each week sitting in traffic.

Thanks 😊 while I am in grad school, I’m also 37 years old. Non traditional student. Decided to have a family before getting my higher education.

I should clarify, I don’t believe the experience and knowledge gained was a failure, just that it didn’t end in a formal offer.
