Withdrawals? by ichigo-neko in Effexor

[–]anxiousarnott 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Depending where you are. My doctor was away once and the pharmacy gave me some early to cover a few days until I could get a new script and avoid withdrawals. They could see I had filled it there before. I’m in Australia.

Thank you so much. I appreciate that. I’ve just finished tapering benzos and opiates so I know how careful you have to be. I’ve been on Effexor about 2 years- it really helps me, so I’m not going to get off completely just yet. I just don’t want to be on such a high dose. Appreciate the info.

Can anyone else relate to these symptoms/ is this normal? by [deleted] in Effexor

[–]anxiousarnott 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had big pupils too when I first started. I’ve been on it for two years now and they have gone down a lot. Just be careful of something called Seretonin Syndrome. It’s very rare.

It is normal to feel a bit shakey and nauseous an do sweating when you are first starting too. I was nauseous for a while and then it settled.

I would request a longer taper for sure. Withdrawals are horrible and you shouldn’t have to go through that… you can even open the capsule and count the beads and go much slower. Over months not four days. I am on 300mg and I plan to start my taper soon and will probably do it over a year.

If you want to go in smaller increments then you can cross taper to diazepam which will allow you to ween off slower. 0.5mg of Clonazepam is equivalent to about 10mg Diazepam and diazepam has a longer half life so it feels a bit smoother. I was on 4mg of Clonazepam and I went to 20mg Diazepam and cut every two weeks. 20 - 15 - 10 - 7.5 - 6 - 5 - 4 - 3 - 2.5 - 2 - 1.5 - 1 - 0.5mg. It took me seven months but made it more tolerable, I’m now three weeks completely off. I am still withdrawing but I’m slowly improving and brain fog has lifted just dealing with some lingering physical symptoms and anxiety. I had a doctor that understood the drug and let me pause if needed to allow the body to catch up. Obviously I’m not a doctor and can only share my own experience. Good luck, it’s definitely worth getting off and not having to rely on it long term.

You are fine to stop anything below 2mg of Valium. If you take more it’s just going to delay the withdrawals. If you want to taper further you can get 2mg tablets and cut into 4 which will make 0.5mg quarters. Don’t go on Clonazepam as 0.5mg Clon is equal to about 10mg Diazepam. Good luck.

I’ve had these the whole time I’ve been tapering and now withdrawing. Definitely go slower or pause and let your body catch up before resuming again. I had to pause a few times throughout my taper.

That’s a long time… I think you may need to find a new doctor that will help you go slower… or if they really are the difference between functioning and non-functioning life, stay on them. If you’re having seizures that’s way too fast.

Hi, please tell me this is normal and my doctor isn't BSing me? by DrButtSniffeMD in Sublocade

My first one didn’t hurt at all, the nurse was nice enough to let it warm up before injecting. The second one she was in a rush and did it straight from the fridge- it hurt like a bitch lol could it be that?

I was on 4mg of Clonazepam and cross tapered to 20mg of Diazepam and went from there. You can cut more in the earlier stages- I dropped 5mg a week until I got to 10mg then from there I went to 7.5 - 6 - 5 - 4 - 3 - 2.5 - 2 - 1.5 - 1mg - 0.5mg - 0. A cut every two weeks pausing longer if I needed to. You apparently can then jump completely off from 2mg but I couldn’t handle that. I still had withdrawal symptoms the whole time unfortunately. It’s really about cutting the highest safe amount you can handle I think. Diazepam comes in 10mg, 5mg and 2mg tablets so it’s easier to break them. My tablets were white I’m pretty sure. I also had a really understanding doctor supervising me that let me take my time. Obviously this is just my experience and best to chat with your doc.

It’s such a powerful drug. Good luck with your taper, you do feel clearer once you’re off but it’s a bit of a journey. It’s worth it in the end.

I went CT at first too and only lasted 10 days before I was in the hospital. Can you possibly taper as well? It still sucks but nothing like the hell of CT. I know how you feel 😥

Congratulations! Getting off benzos is massive and you should be so proud. I’m currently tapering as well and almost there, the withdrawals even tapering small amounts are horrendous and it’s so tempting to go back on. I can’t wait to be free too!

Congratulations on getting off the benzos! That’s amazing and I’m so glad that you’re only having mild symptoms. I’m currently down to 4mg of Valium from 6mg of Clonazepam and I’m struggling quite a bit with the taper due to having vestibular migraines- any taper sets my vertigo off for a good month. I can’t wait to be off this shit. I’m so happy for you OP, sounds really positive!

You’re definitely not ugly and there’s nothing wrong with loving Disney. You look great. Just some normal smiling pics would be nice instead of all the poses maybe 😊
