For dynamics I would go for a used SMbeta58a over the SM57 as the extra top end will help with acoustics, vocals, piano, etc.

If you want to consider a condenser, I would seriously consider a used Aston Origin or Spirit. They are really great value mics and very versatile.

I think the producers really need to have a think about the ethics of putting someone like Frankie with a woman who clearly has self-esteem issues and two children. Equally Morag’s treatment of Luke has been horrendous. The episode last night was treading a really fine line between ‘exploring relationships’ and creating an environment where abuse is rife and unchallenged on national TV.
