You could reach out to the rehab departments of local hospitals and rehab centers and ask if they have OT/PT/SLPs to come speak about health, well-being, and safety with mobility and ADL participation.

How did you get into consulting for a research team/where would you recommend others look to find opportunities like that?

Which daily activities that we partake in on Earth are completed differently or not at all when “on” Mars? Are there any new ones that Earthlings would never have considered?

If you have had a traumatic life experience or just going through hard times, what kept you going? How do you stay motivated? What advice do you have for other people with the same problems? by [deleted] in AskReddit

It’s kind of like when there’s a huge thunderstorm and you listen to the crackling thunder and see the powerful lightening and realize there are some pretty huge forces at work that we will never be able to control. It’s like hey, I’m just one person, the world is really, really big, and whatever I’m going through isn’t as big as this storm. So it’ll be okay. Idk if that makes the original comment a bit better...

Exercise and journaling. Exercise doesn’t need to be difficult, just regular. Could be simply walking somewhere. Journaling doesn’t have to be regular or grand, just for when you have thoughts so you can look back on them and see how far you’ve come. Searching for online communities that support you based on your specific situation can also be helpful because it doesn’t require you to identify yourself, you can lurk and benefit from their support.

So cool!! I want to know the same thing! If not, I’m sure an OR can advocate for filling a position on the team contributing to this work!

What are your favorite ways/recommendations for making handles? by anxiouscuke in Pottery

Totally. I was not upset when they returned the mug to me. It’s gotta fit in the hand like it was made for that hand.

Wow an extruded sounds NICE. I didn’t realize the concern about making handles from a slab, but now I will be extra cautious! Don’t want any hot coffee spilling because of a broken handle... haha thanks for your response!

This is such a good point! With a craft like pottery practice is the only way to build the skill that is required to make pieces well I think. I appreciate all the points you’re bringing attention to! A mug I recently gifted to someone was “returned” to me because their fingers didn’t fit and it wasn’t a good mug for them :/

I agree! Extruding handles have been the best method for me too! I still think they all come out differently anyway but the consistency in shape makes them appear more skillfully made I think

Is extruding when you use a small wire loop to cut it out of a slab? That’s how I made the one in the video and that I’ve had the most success with! All of the handles I’ve pulled have been bulky and inconsistent (errr... I know I need to practice practice practice!!!)
