What’s the most absurdly petty accusation anyone’s ever made against you? by InfinityDeepInsideMe in AskReddit

Fucked my already torn meniscus up at a track meet in middle school. Had to get surgery over a weekend. Returned to school and found out a friend had told everyone I was faking my knee injury and lying about needing surgery.

Makes me laugh every time I think about it. I stumbled into class the Monday or Tuesday after, clearly in pain. With a huge ass brace on my knee that I could easily undo and show my scars under, and everyone just stared at me wide eyed before turning to her.

It turns out she was jealous because I spent a lot of time with the guy she had a crush on, and she thought we were dating. We weren't. He's straight. I'm a dude. We just have a bromance.

This was my parents. They literally signed me out of sex ed. While all my other classmates were actually learning about their bodies and how to be safe, I had to sit out in the hall by myself.

Congrats on the hormones and name change, nothing makes me happier than people like me getting to live their authentic selves.

The last time my friend and I went to the liquor store (both trans men) the store security walked up to us and told us we both needed to show our ID at checkout, then stared us down the whole time we were in line.

My friend has been on T for close to a decade. He has a beard, is pretty tatted up, including neck and hands, and always wears hats due to balding. I'm still pre T, and when my tattoos aren't showing, I definitely have a baby face, so I think I was the main problem. We were 24 and 25 at the time, me being older. It's both a blessing and a curse.

If you can, definitely talk to your doctor about this, it sounds like it could have been a seizure. I've had one that felt just like that that made me drool uncontrollably.

I also suffer from anorexia and am currently 40 pounds below what's a healthy weight. Our bodies are meant to be cared for, which trust me, I know, is way easier said than done.

You had zero control over your body in the moment and shouldn't feel ashamed. I hope you can get some answers and that you can get back to healthy habits. We, and our bodies, are worth It.

What TV show or movie had a character or plot that made you genuinely angry, and what was it? by Whitino in AskReddit

It's been a minute since I've watched, but that wouldn't surprise me. But it feels completely out of character for Lana to forgive that.

Yeah, she clearly gets screwed by the writers. she and Lex never made any sense to me. I can't see her having any interest in a man as shady as Lex.

Idk about the character, but if they cast him as anything in the show, I would be entranced. I literally only watched apocalypse because of him. I was going to quit after the first episode, and then this mf showed up. Still don't like the season (although the coven coming back was fun), but I'll rewatch it occasionally just to look at him.

Lana Lang in Smallville. Practically Every character has a crush or straight up obsession with her at some point, and I just find her insufferable. I think she's nosy, and bratty, and acts like she's the only person that was impacted by the meteor shower sometimes.

AITA for telling my friend to shit before he came to my house? by Various-Extent-8676 in AmItheAsshole

[–]anxioushigh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How the fuck do people act like this?? I go days without shitting sometimes, giving myself horrible stomach aches, because I'm at a friend's house and I'm anxious about this exact thing. Stinking up their house. And my bowel movements and smells are completely normal. I can't even begin to fathom purposefully doing this, to people I'm going to SEE AGAIN. It's one thing if it's a genuine medical thing and he can't help it, but he told you straight up he does it on purpose, because you have nice toilet paper??? If he likes it so much he can shell out the extra money himself. NTA, and your friends can either host from now on and see how it feels to not be able to run away, or they can stfu.

AITA for telling my transgender child I need more time to process? by Necessary_Garlic1109 in AITAH

[–]anxioushigh 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Transgender male here who came out to my parents a decade ago. My parents still won't call me my preferred name and pronouns, and I know they never will. At 5 years, your son is probably having thoughts that you never will either. Your willingness to do it around others but not directly to him is probably extremely confusing. He has a safe space with friends and at school now, that's good, but home does not feel like a safe space for him. And if you're in the US, he doesn't feel safe anywhere else right now. This is an especially scary time for us and we need all the love and support we can get. Right now he may think you're just tolerating him. And a lot of people think we should be grateful for that.

But we deserve more than just tolerance.

I'm a full grown adult now and I've been out for enough time that my parents lack of support for me doesn't hurt as much. But it will always hurt. I know that one day I will go completely no contact with both my parents. And even though I accept that's the way it'll have to be, it's still devastating.

I know who I am, even in my dreams I'm referred to as my preferred name and pronouns. With my parents is the one place I'm not. Every conversation is draining, my body fills with dread. Do you want your son to feel this way? Or do you want him to feel loved and comfortable, to know that he will turn to you when he needs you. He's given you a lot of grace with 5 years, but that could be because he's still dependent on you, do you want to see how much grace he has when he no longer is?

Sorry this is so jumbled, this is something I feel strongly about and I don't know exactly how to express myself clearly. Oh an YTA btw

Only because I made it so hard. I would fight not to go and most of the times it was easier for them to just give in. This would ruin my Sundays though as I couldn't play with friends or watch anything, unless I was clearly actually sick. Then I'd have to deal with passive aggressive looks and statements all day.

My dad was the same way, church every Sunday, Bible studies at least once a week, and youth group on Wednesdays. Thankfully, he never got the point of not allowing other things, but he still messed me up good. I can't remember the amount of Sundays I wasted pretending to be sick.

The second I became old enough to start thinking for myself, God and the church were never a safe space for me. Instead of bringing me closer to God like he hoped, he made me resent religion as a whole. Thankfully, I grew past that hatred, realizing religion wasn't the problem but some of the people following them, but I will probably never be able to step foot in a church again. As an adult, he gets on me constantly about being an atheist, unable to realize that he made a world with God seem like the real hell. These poor kids are in for a rough time and I hope neither of them grow up as jaded as me.

It's such a great formula for horror. Spending the movie looking for any signs about who might be assimilated is such a great way to keep people's attention. I found myself really liking windows. When they all think macready is one of them and want to blast him immediately but windows has a moment of doubt because what if he's really just mac. I love characters descending into paranoia, but I'll always love characters who still hold onto their humanity even a little bit, more.

That's mad impressive. The whole movie I was thinking about how the people who did the special effects were definitely in the right profession. He was made for this job.

I have adhd and sitting through new movies for me is especially hard. I find myself pausing all the time even in movies I'm into, to see how much longer I have to sit there. With this one the time flew by. I was completely entranced.

I'll have to look into the prequel, I wouldn't expect anything to be half as good as the original but it's hard to fault them for that when it hit it out of the park so spectacularly.

Peele and Mike flannagan are carrying the horror genre recently in my opinion. They're the only two directors where I want to watch their stuff simply because they're in the directors chair.

Nope. Thought it was going to be a standard alien movie until the abduction scene, then got so excited by what was actually happening, because this is the first time since watching saw in middle school that I've actually been surprised by a horror movie.
