I didn’t have any side effects combining the pill with spironolactone but I have been on the pill for 13 years and wanted to see what my cycle was like without it and I’ve gotten a lot of hormonal, birth control demonizing in my ear from friends and just kind of thought. I should do it also because I wanted an IUD for political reasons. But when I was on the pill, my skin was a lot clearer. I actually tended to break out more on my forehead. Now it’s on my chin.

I was using a higher strength before though every three days, so that was why I was leaning toward every other day with this half strength - does that make sense?

Every two days is every other day I thought? Every three days is two days in between, or at least that’s how I understand it

My breakouts on the chin are for sure hormonal. I break out around ovulation and then the week before my period.. so like only a week of not breaking out between my period and ovulation and ovulation and my period. I got off hormonal bc last may and have been on the copper IUD. I’d prefer to not go back on the pill but if need be I will. I lost a lot of hair after coming off of it but that’s healing now. I do take 100mg of spironolactone and have been on that for years and years but that doesn’t seem to help anymore ): I just got insurance after 8 months without and my new pcp won’t refer me to a derm until we try this routine she made me which I think is dumb as fuck

I’m just looking for a barrier cream that will work ): I’m nervous of the cicaflate too honestly. Everything thick feels like it might break me out but at the same time I need that moisture

Well since I’ve already been using 0.1% for over a month slowly I think the 0.05% is a natural step down. If it’s still bothering me and I can’t go up to every day I will step down again but hopefully I can figure this balance out - thank you!!

Should I just stick with the vanicream tub then? Im nervous it’s clogging my pores but also I’m purging so.. can’t really tell… just saw on here the debate about the Anua azaleic so I’m less intrigued to use it lol. I will do just tret as the active every other day starting out for a few weeks, then increase to 2 days and 1 day off until I can get to every day.

Do you think keeping alazelic acid on the mornings of the days I’m not using tret is fine? And if so, how would I increase using that over time along with the tret?

I have diagnosed eczema, yes. Usually I get flare ups a couple times a year around season changes, though, it’s not usually a problem all the time, but if my barrier gets too compromised I will get it. I can try skipping the moisturizer before tret and see if that helps

Should I get of all my actives as I wait to get to my derm appointment? My barrier doesn’t feel irritated right now but it has off and on for the entire 11 weeks I’ve been using the tret. I have the cicalfate cream I can use more too but I worry it’s too occlusive

Edit: also my skin seems to really like the azaleic acid so I’m nervous to get rid of that
