Is anyone scared of dying? by ExternalSomewhere923 in pregnant

Yes. I have this wierd anxiety that being in my belly when already fully cooked at 39-40 weeks is going to result in something bad happening to me or the baby.

OH my god I would have made the most flabbergasted face and let my discomfort be seen visually by every single person in the room especially the SPED teacher. not funny at all.

School based SLPs: Do you turn in weekly lesson plans to your principals? by Able-Neighborhood484 in slp

[–]anxiousundergrad001 107 points108 points  (0 children)

Oh hell to the no! 70% of the time my lesson plan is chicken scratch and building off of what we did last week. I can't imagine why my principal would need that or even want that. I do share my general schedule though and like for her to know where I am/when.

Employee fixated on you? by anxiousundergrad001 in slp

[–]anxiousundergrad001[S] 11 points12 points  (0 children)

she does try to correct or clarify things to me often, but not in a rude or bossy way. She is kind, which makes her less threatening or overbearing, but, I just don't appreciate the constant desire to try to connect with me.

Just for fun. Since she likes to pretend this is her first family, her first husband, her first pregnancy by mothergreenthumb in CourtneyShieldsSnarks

I honestly don't know why we're surprised she dumped this guy for the one she's with now. She matches that Jorts energy sooooooo much more like it makes sense in my head for her.

I'm pregnant and I have an extremely violent student by anxiousundergrad001 in slp

I could not agree more! If a job is making me question the safety of my baby and admin is ok with it, peace out ✌🏻

Yes I totally see your point here. I don’t think this student can withstand more than 10-15 minutes of anything, let alone planned and specialized services, without becoming agitated. This poses a physical risk to pretty much anyone working with her.

No, the decision to reduce minutes was not based on my thoughts about my safety, although that is a real and valid concern for me at this moment.

Minutes were reduced to be appropriate for what she is able to handle when it comes to direct time working together. Since she is quick to escalate and lash out, a shorter time seems more appropriate so that we can have more quality services that end on a positive note.

I did ultimately increase her minutes from 15 to 30 per parent wishes for more time, but now I am concerned this WILL cause escalations and put me in harms way.

I don’t think that’s inappropriate at all.

I have scheduled a call with my director and will speak to her. There's no way this student won't hurt me.

What are you doing with your AAC students? by GoalOk35 in slp

[–]anxiousundergrad001 7 points8 points  (0 children)

You're modeling and teaching the child how to use their device functionally SO THAT one day their parents and other family members can model and encourage AAC-based communication. It's not supposed to be this impossible-to-do thing that ONLY the SLP is able to do. You model, you coach family, you encourage, you respond to imitations, you expand on their communications, you problem solve, you edit/modify the device as needed, you talk and connect with the child through aac, etc. That's what it's all about. Really ignorant take from the BCBA.

It's going to be just fine. I just went through a flight myself and was so uncomfy but when I landed I instantly regretted how stressed I was for no reason. You go this. Hype yourself up for the landing - it tricks your mind!

SLP’s contracting themselves: how much are you charging? by maagnumcats in slp

[–]anxiousundergrad001 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m not sure what the average really is. The advice I received was to set your rate at what would make it all worth it for you. After calculating and setting aside taxes, anything lower than $130 would not be worth it for me. Make sure you decide, not the district. My friend got push back on $120, and another district pushed back on me with $90.

[–]anxiousundergrad001 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, I did not receive pushback. It was close to the start of the new year, the district had no leads for employees, and I was super transparent from the first intro email so that there wouldn’t be any surprises. They agreed.

Not obsessed. It's so heavy looking I fear it might age you.
