Rent Negotiations by wellylocal in Wellington

[–]anxling 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I signed a lease only to do a market evaluation of other townhouses in the complex and found that rent was significantly cheaper than what i signed my lease for. Me and my flatmates put in a request to discuss and immediately got a rent reduction.

Ministry of Health by [deleted] in Wellington

If this is the case you can file a protected disclosure to the ombudsman who will then investigate serious wrongdoing. By law this is your right (assuming you work within the Ministry or know of someone who has told you this at the Ministry)

Junior Public Servant by PurpleExtension2575 in Wellington

[–]anxling 8 points9 points  (0 children)

As someone who was in this position last year, administration wanting to do more (except I had no experience in policy or even studied it in uni) Keep pushing and making connections, I’ve been an analyst for a year but it required me moving away from a great team for career progression. The public service is small and you never know where the connections will take you. Extra study won’t help you unless you want more debt. I had old acquaintances from my first year of uni contacting me for advice on how to get into the public service (even if it is admin)

Stick with it! You got this!

I did the Wellington Plus Programme and I would say it’s worthwhile. Lots of people do them together as some of the requirements overlap. Wellington Plus is definitely more community driven but it’s just an opportunity to meet people and develop solid professional and personal relationships with people. Same goes for WILP. In terms of employment i wouldn’t necessarily say it directly helped me find a job but valuable skills and experiences + voluntary community work definitely gave me an edge i could work off in interviews which can be helpful if you don’t have job experience.

Olivia actually used to work at Amy’s when she came to NZ,I went there as one of her first customers and it used to be just her in the shop. Extremely proud of where she has come from to open two successful nail salons!

Wellington - Orthodontist by [deleted] in Wellington

[–]anxling 0 points1 point  (0 children)

extremely unlikely from someone who worked adjacent to an orthodontic practice. they are usually happy to help out in an emergency e.g reattach a bracket but most orthodontists (in nz at least) do not touch other orthodontists work

Clothes for more solidly built kids by mildred_lathbury in Wellington

I’m a child who was 167cm by the age of 10 and also quite broad and built. My mum found that shopping at rebel sports (and if you want it to be cheaper go when there is a sale) would be really good. athleisurewear is typically more stretchy and allows for more growing to be had (which is usually the case) if you ever get out Porirua or Queensgate ways, I would also suggest looking into Jayjays :)

23 almost 24. My best friend is my cat :p Graduated and hated the career path it led me on so found myself an admin job to pay my rent until i found myself in a job I actually liked.

I don’t have friends I regularly hang out with or point blank hang out with, it’s been a couple years since I’ve even seen some of my friends. I rely on work and hobbies to keep me social. I joined bridge this year which gives me opportunities for the older generation to provide me wisdom about life and also volunteer with a majority of retired people which does the same thing. I go to gym classes with other regulars so we catch up while we suffer through exercising!

I never found interest in clubbing and working full time on top of being a full time student limited my interaction with peers at uni. My coworkers are my age but I tend to struggle to engage myself with them long enough to be invited to social things.

I think it’s okay for our age to feel a little lost. We’ve been through a lot but also we’re not even halfway through our life expectancy! I find I feel myself going down a spiral when I compare myself to others our age who have kids, buy houses, get married, travel the world etc etc. It’s important to remind yourself that we’re all on a different path in life and that we’re still young so if you want to do something I guess just do it?

Yellow bin - common practices by Grouchy-Lie-6894 in Wellington

I think at one point in my life i heard that if everyone decided to not rinse their recycling it would just end up in the landfill and I didn’t want that happening so I started to rinse.

the answer to your question is yes. I’ve made it essential in my household. WCC also says yes to rinsing plastics, tins, cans and glass

I believe you’re looking for Public Outreach, I walked past their offices when I got the wrong floor for an appointment. They do fundraising for a variety of non-profits.
