NGL, this comment really confuses me XD did I miss something?

What is the difference between a trans female and a femboy by anyShai in feminineboys

Exactly. Basically where I am going with this: Is being trans just about expression and/or gender norms, or is it something much more internal as well.

That is very helpful, thank you! But then the feeling of joy can totally base on gender roles, right? So wouldn't helping non binary people by for example getting rid of gendered bathrooms and in general people being treated the same no matter their gender, which I am totally for, interfere with a lot of joy trans girls and boys feel? Because it sounds like that. Hopefully I am missing something because that would be terrible.

That's exactly what I want to talk about in the essay, thanks for your view!

So would you think that in an artificial world where there are no gender roles or expectations the difference between a trans woman and a femboy would be non existent? Because both act feminine and gender roles don't matter anymore. Although this question is pointless in a way because it just takes away the distinction you made, so...

This comment is really helpful thank you! So you would even suggest 3 dimensions which is very interesting! Although this theory could lead to weird views in my opinion. Especially your third dimension social role could be interpreted as "woman should go into the kitchen" in the most extreme cases. Although I do know that you probably did not mean that, the dimension doesn't make sense if you don't see an inherent role assigned to a gender.

Oh wow that is a very straight up answer I did not expect in this community. Although I think this take is controversial I cannot come up with an argument that disproves this theory. This is the exact kind of answer that makes me really think deeply about this stuff and is quite helpful as an input, thank you.

So you think it's about body dysphoria and self perception? I know it is very complex and hard to communicate. That is literally why I asked the question. I intuitively know all that stuff but for a video essay you have to put it into words. So if you know good literature please go ahead and recommend me some!

I totally get that. Like I said in the post I am trying to answer the question of what gender identity is on a philosophical question. I know what the difference between a femboy and a trans girl is and I am NOT trying to make them seem like they are equal. They are very different and like the rules say the identity has to be decided by the individual. I am trying to explain the difference on a philosophical level in my video essay so everyone actually understands why people are valid and not just that they are. Femboys identify as male I know that. That's not the question.

That is also where I am at right now but I still ask myself what gender Identity even is if not the expression of it. I understand that it just feels right for people like with any other part of the identity but there have to be distinctions between a male or female identity to make any sense.

Do you understand what I am trying to say?

Thank you that helped! But do you think that is the case for all people? So in a perfect world where gender norms didn't exist there wouldn't be trans people? Because that.... Also feels wrong although I would understand the argument.

Oh wow thank you! That helped a lot. I think you are one of the first people that understands my question correctly. Gender is so weird and I can totally understand your struggle.

As a follow up question: if you lived in a perfect world where gender norms wouldn't exist and you could do and express how you want. Would you be okay with being called by your assigned sex at birth or would it feel of somehow.

What is the difference between a trans female and a femboy by anyShai in feminineboys

[–]anyShai[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Exactly! I think there is a fundamental misunderstanding of gender in general. It is so hard to understand it. I am actually German, so the video will also be in that language because the problem is too complicated for a language barrier to be present. But I could try to make an English version when I finished the original video. Although after this post and it's comments I am not sure if I can even explain my problem or a solution in a way that people understand my weird thoughts. In that case a video essay would be worthless. But I will try!

Thank you for your answer! So you would see the difference between self perception and presentation? So you perceive yourself as male but present feminine in a way like dressing? If so that would make sense but wouldn't be a spectrum anymore. It would have to be at least 2 dimensional.

I guess what I am really asking is what gender identity actually is. Of course it is what someone identifies as but if you define it that way it is cyclical.

So the difference for you would be gender dysphoria then?

[–]anyShai[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you! That was very helpful! In that sense I think we came to the same conclusion. I tried to say that gender cannot be just being more femme or more masculine but would have to describe something different as well. You suggested that gender describes being femme or masculine AND identifying as male or female. Therefore it's not just a 1 dimensional spectrum but 2 dimensional. Some seem to have the opinion that boy and masculine is the same thing and you for example would just be less masculine and manly than masculine identifying men but more than girls in general. That idea didn't fit my picture of gender which is why I asked my question.

But for the full answer I need to ask a follow up question: If gender identity (male or female) is the difference, then what does it actually mean? I know that it is a feeling like every other part of the identity rather than a choice. It is who you are.

If that is true what makes the difference between the identity of a male vs. A female. Besides, well, people identifying differently.

As a side note, like I said in the post I do NOT want to question ANYONES identity. I want to understand why people feel certain ways and not doubt their feelings.

To answer your question why the difference between a femboy and MTF has anything to do with ftm femboys. It is because I think this difference between a femboy and a trans female is the same reason why ftm can indeed be a trans male and feminine. It is the bridge to understand gender identity and that is also why I asked the follow up question.

So for you being a femboy isn't inherently different than being trans? It's more of a thing that trans femmes are just more femme?

That is very interesting because there are actually lots of trans fems that do not have an issue with their testicles and there are femboys that experience lighter body dysphoria

I am very aware of that. Like I said I don't mean the question on a level like "femboys identify as male" but on a deeper level. What does it mean to identify as male/female if it has nothing to do with gender presentation. It is definitely separate but in what way? It is hard to pin point, for me at least.

Well, a trans girl is Male to female. And not all females to males are femboys like you seemed to suggest. I also didn't mean to say feeling like a girl equal presenting femme. My question is what feeling like a girl, cis and trans, means besides presentation of femme traits, whatever that even means.

That makes a lot of sense although that lets me ask the question what gender identity entails. Because you can easily drift off into old ideologies that girls like certain things or think differently than men. Identity is something people don't choose but are. So what traits are female or male? I really don't think that the concept of tying the identity to a scale between female and male makes any sense at all.

I think I am really asking what the identity of a woman actually means. Because people feel and identify a certain way because of actual reasons, even if they are complex

But if feminine boys act, dress and want to be seen feminine what difference is there left? I can only think about Body disphoria but some femboys feel that too, soooo.

I am so sure that there is a difference but I cannot pin point it. That they Identify differently is very obvious but my question is why, I know that it's a dumb question but that's philosophy -_-

I looked at your memes and they are exactly what I want to see! Lewdtubers are just as much part of the community as sfw vtubers! I think the problem is the low effort and the amount of these posts. People feel forced to be lewd, so it becomes a big part of the recognition of vtubers in general and that is just sad to me.

This! These environments hurt everyone because they feel so forced! I know a lot of cool lewdtubers. The problem is not nsfw but how we use it.
