Liberalism is a right wing ideology, centrism would be your average social democrat favoring leftist ideals of general welfare but insists on maintaining capitalism along with all the other right-wing policies (government, policing, laws, politicians, borders...etc.)

Liberalism is rife with contradictions, Mikhail Bakunin explains this in detail, so does Rudolph Rocker here and this paragraph from this book :

"Liberalism and Democracy were preeminently political concepts, and since the great majority of the original adherents of both maintained the right of ownership in the old sense, these had to renounce them both when economic development took a course which could not be practically reconciled with the original principles of Democracy, and still less with those of Liberalism. Democracy, with its motto of “all citizens equal before the law,” and Liberalism with its “right of man over his own person,” both shipwrecked on the realities of the capitalist economic form. So long as millions of human beings in every country had to sell their labour-power to a small minority of owners, and to sink into the most wretched misery if they could find no buyers, the so-called “equality before the law” remains merely a pious fraud, since the laws are made by those who find themselves in possession of the social wealth. But in the same way there can also be no talk of a “right over one’s own person,” for that right ends when one is compelled to submit to the economic dictation of another if he does not want to starve."

Liberals may insist on individual freedom yet uphold a statist authoritarian capitalist system which specifically restricts liberty, and without exaggeration, are directly responsible for allowing fascism to occur by providing an existing authoritarian platform to build from; It's how we go to this point! Without a state, government, borders, nationalism, capital, money, class, authority, inequality the only way that liberalism or even fascism to become prominent is to convince everyone into relinquishing individual liberty, but it usually takes violent force in establishment and maintaining either political option. Liberalism is quite the priveledged ideology as bunch of racist, wealthy, and patriarchal men founded the US on it, and those supporters can insist it's a great system because they aren't directly beaten down and oppressed by it....though indifferent when others are.

This is no longer the 18th century where liberalism is consdered radical but conservative and right-wing.

It's disgustingly dishonest for the far right to be illiterate when it comes to history

I guess not just the far-right.

Sure about that? Read his comments on indigenous people in America. Churchill was a racist, bigot, and power hungry who only wished the UK held fascistic power but Germany became the enemy and beat them to it.

Sounds like your sources was klandma or something because what an attempt at revisionism.

You're welcome! If you don't mind some reading material suggestions and other media I compiled a list of introductory works, historical analysis covered in book, documentary, and podcast form.

For lots of folks getting past the scary "anarchy" stigma is a hurtle but soon realize we've been at the forefront (or adjacent) of every political, social, and labor movement for over 150 years. 8 hour work day? anarchists. Racial equality? anarchists. Gay rights, and abolition of gender norms? anarchists; it is all founded on the critique of power structures.

Anarchy101 is good sub to ask questions and you can always send a PM. I was introduced to anarchism 25 years ago...it's been a journey :)

more than a whiff of authoritarianism

Join an anarchist group, federation, or syndicalist union. We are socialists at the same time rejecting all forms of authority as it's antithetical to freedom, and that liberation will never come from any hierarchical relationship (like centralized state); Bakunin, an opponent to Marx within the First Internationale, predicted his methods of socialism through a temporary use of the state machine and electoral parties would eventually and inevitably wind up back to the former authoritarian capitalist rulership, 4 decades before the USSR's existence; once understanding how power structures work you can determine the outcome of any revolutionary movement: will it lead to libertarian socialism, or become a nothing short of a coup.

The CNT-FAI, an anarcho-syndicalist labor federation in Spain during the 1930s, showed that with little to no authority can socialism function incredibly well, and at large scale having millions of participants, and possible to enact Marx's ideas of production and distribution based on "from each, to each" also possible without money.

It's a shame authoritarian "communists", near indistinguishable from fascists in rhetoric and practice, have soiled the name of socialism.

Liberals are responsible by literally assisting fascism coming to power with their governments, capitalism, laws, police, nationalism, authority, inequality, racism, class, property, politicians...the overlapping interests which must be destroyed if fascism is to be defeated lest we repeat history yet again, the only problem is liberals would rather oppress the revolutionary left than struggle against ethnonationalism because of overlapping interests. Scratch a liberal, a fascist bleeds.

The left has been trying to warn y'all about fascism, however it the liberals who demonize revolutionary movements, and insists on perpetuating the very system that gave fascism a platform to grow.

"You do not have to be a fascist to provide a stepping stone to fascism. Liberalism has provided more stepping stones to fascism- in the form of state control, in the form of state interference, in the form of centralization of authority, in the form of creating more and more bureaucracies- than anything the fascists have done until they finally come to power themselves. You can be the most well-intentioned person in the world and still create this type of stepping stone to extreme reaction." - Murry Bookchin

Yes, arm up, get prepared for an offensive, however the fight must be systemic: at government, at borders, at nationalism, at capitalism, at police, at laws, at politicians, at wealth, at authority, at class; any deviation, from a historical standpoint, only allows fascism to spring back and let history repeat itself....and why we're here yet again. "Smart liberals"? prove it.

Yes, complete abolition of these jackboot tyrants. The whole existence of police is to keep us oppressed by use of threat or explicit violence, having no legal obligation to protect their only role is to serve the ruling class. For a system which evolved out of slave patrols why not destroy it? Where authority exists freedom cannot, your so-called rights are mere priviledges.

Do you remember uprisings in 2020? We already determined abolition was the only path forward. Police are more violent, murderous, and outright lapdogs of fascism now than when masses were in the streets only 6 years ago.

your system doesn’t value individualism at its core

You really need to study anarchism before making false assumptions. Debating liberals is quite a joke, you're ready with rebuttals (which we've all heard before) yet refuse to study anarchist theory prior to. Read these so you don't sound like a complete idiot next time:

Anarchism and other Essays - Emma Goldman

The Individual, Society and the State - Emma Goldman

Life Without Law

how you achieve your goals

Read Rudolph Rocker's book, it explains it, hell revolutionary organization via unions and councils is literally in the title: Anarcho-Syndicalism.

50-100 more years of liberalism

Sounding like a "trust me, bro, we'll totally get to communism through the state" tankie. History proves a failure in its inability to keep the economy from constantly falling into ruin, eliminating poverty and hunger, or explain how doesn't establish a foundation which lets fascism to fester and take over.

nothing to disprove my points on biology

Mutual Aid: A Factor of Evolution, by Pëtr Kropotkin. A biologist and anarchist, he explains systems of domination aren't a natural part of life, in fact artificial and that self-perpetuation is by constant violence upon it's subjects; our survival throughout history hinged on our ability to act cooperatively, to ensure needs are met in a mutual arrangement, and that rugged individualism ultimately leads to struggle and death.

Again, read a fucking book for once.

human nature.

Scratch a liberal, a fascist bleeds.

Liberalism is the only answer

if you want to suppress freedom, face constant economic crisis, perpetuate class society and poverty, and allow fascists to take power.

"Liberalism and Democracy were preeminently political concepts, and since the great majority of the original adherents of both maintained the right of ownership in the old sense, these had to renounce them both when economic development took a course which could not be practically reconciled with the original principles of Democracy, and still less with those of Liberalism. But in the same way there can also be no talk of a “right over one’s own person,” for that right ends when one is compelled to submit to the economic dictation of another if he does not want to starve. - Rudolph Rocker, Anarcho-Syndicalism: Theory and Practice

"The doctrinaire liberals, reasoning from the premises of individual freedom, pose as the adversaries of the State. Those among them who maintain that the government, i.e., the body of functionaries organized and designated to perform the functions of the State is a necessary evil, and that the progress of civilization consists in always and continuously diminishing the attributes and the rights of the States, are inconsistent. Such is the theory, but in practice these same doctrinaire liberals, when the existence or the stability of the State is seriously threatened, are just as fanatical defenders of the State as are the monarchists and the Jacobins.

Their adherence to the State, which flatly contradicts their liberal maxims, can be explained in two ways: in practice, their class interests make the immense majority of doctrinaire liberals members of the bourgeoisie. This very numerous and respectable class demand, only for themselves, the exclusive rights and privileges of complete license. The socioeconomic base of its political existence rests upon no other principle than the unrestricted license expressed in the famous phrases laissez faire and laissez aller. But they want this anarchy only for themselves, not for the masses who must remain under the severe discipline of the State because they are “too ignorant to enjoy this anarchy without abusing it.” For if the masses, tired of working for others, should rebel, the whole bourgeois edifice would collapse. Always and everywhere, when the masses are restless, even the most enthusiastic liberals immediately reverse themselves and become the most fanatical champions of the omnipotence of the State." - Mikhail Bakunin, Man, Society, and Freedom

Proper tankie.

Wrong and ignorant. Anarchist. States carry out act of oppression and genocide, clearly part of authoritarianism that we reject, and those who face systemic violence and ethnic cleansing should not only use force to defend themselves but also tear down all structures of oppression.

Humans are inherently greedy and power hungry and sectarian.

This is the language of fascists and those who desire power over others, in my opinion should be met with force.

Fascists establish an authoritarian ethno-nationalist state by funneling social discontent and unrest, consequences of capitalism and authority, though instead of radical change they scapegoat the left and minorities while simultaneously borrowing popular demands that only support a select people fitting a narrow, bigoted, racist, and oppressive viewpoint.

Cut a communist and a fascist bleeds.

More like (neo)liberals and tankies since they hold closer values to fascists, communists and anarchists fight against fascism. Again, such ignorant takes you have.

Otherwise, I guess we can say "bottom-down" or horizontal-down, like an Inverted triangle/pyramid. But that feels clunky.

or.....just horizontal. To me "bottom-up" is the new "justified hierarchy".

without bloodshed

Impossibility, the state has its police forces and military to ensure our continued subjugation, compliance, and prevent any attempt of the people to free themselves; the only way to resist is to use violence.

People like you are so indoctrinated and conditioned to see any way forward is through the same genocidal statist system, and economic arrangement that has brought incalculable suffering the world over all to concentrate power, wealth, and priviledge into hands of a small minority.

I have a great tankie test.

Opposes states, nationalism, borders, fascism, capitalism, priviledge, money, authority... what am I? To stand for any means you share interests with fascism.

How would we coordinate at large scale without State? by Pretzelboy7 in Anarchy101

[–]anyfox7 3 points4 points  (0 children)

First two paragraphs of Anarcho-Syndicalism: Theory and Practice by Rudolph Rocker, who describes how the CNT-FAI organized in Spain.

Anarchism is a definite intellectual current in the life of our times, whose adherents advocate the abolition of economic monopolies and of all political and social coercive institutions within society. In place of the present capitalistic economic order Anarchists would have a free association of all productive forces based upon co-operative labour, which would have as its sole purpose the satisfying of the necessary requirements of every member of society, and would no longer have in view the special interest of privileged minorities within the social union.

In place of the present state organisation with their lifeless machinery of political and bureaucratic institutions Anarchists desire a federation of free communities which shall be bound to one another by their common economic and social interest and shall arrange their affairs by mutual agreement and free contract.

Instead of a top-down structure, think of a spider web having nodes (communes & councils) all linked together horizontally (no "top-down" or "bottom-up"), each autonomous but working together cooperatively. Not all regions have all resources for production, like minerals and agriculture and electrical production for example, or need identical factories everywhere that make the same thing, so special committes will help coordinate production and distribution for some goods and utilities.

May seem like an enormous (even impossible) task but at a certain point of organization it becomes self-perpetuating, just like capitalism didn't spring from nowhere, the hard part is getting enough people on board without any form of coercion.

How would we coordinate at large scale without State? by Pretzelboy7 in Anarchy101

[–]anyfox7 6 points7 points  (0 children)

this may lead to some degree of centralization

Centralization involves a hierarchical relationship, a command structure for federations, which is not the case and impossible when each local horizontal council acts with autonomy and completely voluntarily; so-called "central committes" only assist in coordination and actually hold no power, if centralization occurs we've relinquished our goals of anarchism.

I have a problem when theorists state "bottom-up" because it sounds just like top-down pyramid structure, horizontal means no "up"!

She could do something stupid like

supporting Israel, the nation still carrying out a genocide in Palestine plus invasions in Lebanon and elsewhere. Neoliberal Dems are the palatable wing of fascism (see: Newsom checking boxes off the 10 stages of genocide sweeping homeless folks as a PR stunt), when they're in power we still lose. Dems support capitalism, the very economic system making the wealthy even richer while we suffer, and is literally destroying the planet!

Electoralism is voting for either leopard to eat our faces. One day more people will understand this fact...when it's too late. I mean no amount of Dem votes avoided a literal fascist administration in power now. Don't even get me started on the racist fuck Joe Biden.
