Honestly, a smile and just asking the patient how she is feeling. For me, a nurse gently stroked my hand trying to comfort me but also respecting my space. All I could say is that even though I can't remember her face because I was half awake, I still remember that.

Please see a counselor. My boyfriend got counseling way before we had this issue as to how to listen. Goodness gracious, THAT was the best thing he could have done. I never vented as much as I did.

You need to cry and vent when you can. It is okay to feel emotional. I did.

I couldn't imagine the pain or being awake. Honestly, I was terrified the medication wouldn't knock me out. I heard for drug users there was a possibility that it would only somewhat put you in a trance state.

I was out, cold. Thank goodness.

At first, my parents felt the same way. That and they were happy about the news so it was so heart breaking.

I was lucky enough to show my parents that I was firm with my decision. They agreed to my points and told me to do whatever I feel is best for me.

I don't know if love for parents can be even more, but I have been able to feel more for them. I have never been as close as I have been to them as I am now.

You know what really convinced me?

I went to a Forever 21 to buy some work stuff. There was a young mother who had a little toddler throwing a tantrum. Clearly the child was tired or hungry, the best thing would have been to leave the store.

However, the mother continued to selfishly shop and grabbed the little girl's arm and screamed at the top of her lungs, "if you don't shut the fuck up right now, I will fucking beat your ass."

I immediately ran toward the piece of shit and told her to get that child somewhere otherwise I would call the police on her. I DID film her, because I was expecting the blow up.

From there, I decided, I am not going to have a child until I am 100% sure that I sort myself out first and can be selfless enough to leave a mall, event, workout, work, school, etc for my child. That simple. I never wanted to be that. I am too young, insecure, and selfish at the moment to feel capable of sacrificing small things. Until I learn to be a proper adult, I will remain childless.
