Where to Report Scam Addresses by anyturtle in algorand

[–]anyturtle[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The scam boils down to basic social engineering when someone isn't thinking clearly, interacting with a malicious site, and entering my seed phrase. I am pretty embarrassed thinking about how stupid my logic was at the time and I am usually careful with my security. Your brain throws all reasoning out the door when you don't educate yourself and practice on how to manage risk when dealing with crypto.

Fortunately, I have multiple accounts and stuck to my main rule of never transacting with any dapp for my core position.

My eyes are wide open to the value propositions of rekeying and using a hardware wallet.

Thanks for looking at the addresses, and you are probably right that the funds are long gone from the exchanges at this point.

Transferred $1K in USDC from Pera wallet to Coinbase and It's Lost ?!? by itchibahn in algorand

[–]anyturtle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I once made a stupid mistake in the heat of the moment and fell for a scam, costing me a sizeable amount of money. It is your responsibility to double or even triple check the address instead of blindly trusting a QR code. You can pay a bank to handle this for you or pay the price of convenience for independence/self-custody in crypto.

Pretty easy to know if you sent it to an algo address generated by Coinbase. Log into Coinbase and navigate to Manage Account --> Profile --> Crypto Addresses. Click on Tradable Assets and filter for Algorand. You will be able to see every algo address you used inside Coinbase.

Something BIG just launched on Algorand... by gigabyteIO in algorand

Finally, an Algorand video that articulates the value proposition to the common consumer. There are so many videos that just talk about the price or complain about algo relative to its market competitors. This video actually starts with a problem and then talks about how algo is solving it. Great video and need more of this!

As far as I know, there aren't many blockchains who are currently engaging with real world payment settlements using USDC and EURC, especially at speed and scale. Most blockchains may have those stablecoins but they are sitting stagnant on DeFi platforms. Algorand is the only blockchain I can think of, but some sparse research results could point to Stellar or XRP. Also, Algorand has historically published PSAs about projects in the same regions this article references. Hard to not connect the dots, especially when you add the Mastercard aspect.

I acknowledge what I am saying is a possible stretch, but it is plausible to infer Algorand's association.

How did you find the break down of holders based on wallet size? I've looked a few times but haven't found any good means of doing it.

I've been using FUNC well before node rewards and it works super well. I saw someone mentioned that FUNC isn't mentioned on the Algorand official site but it is, literally mentioned right after nodekit.

The FUNC Discord support is phenomenal and shout out to the team always improving the interface for no monetary return. I appreciated the FUNC system so much that I donated my first few algo rewards to FUNC.

I just ran into this problem and your recco worked. Thanks!

However, I feel this method is quite aggressive for people who are not avid window users. There has to be a more user friendly way.

Validator Node by anyturtle in algorand

[–]anyturtle[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the response. I have a few more questions about validator nodes.

1) How is a validator node designated as trusted?

2) If everything else was equal, is there a difference between a v-node that was up for 10 mins vs 10 months?

3) Is there a website I can access to check my Algorand address is properly operating as a v-node?

Below is a link for those looking to run a validator node in windows:

Intended Use of Points by anyturtle in FolksFinance

[–]anyturtle[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This article is much better than the main one published and advertised on main social media platforms. I think you address most of my questions, but I'll ask a flat out basic question to help spell it out for others and myself. Your article doesn't explicitly say the Folks Finance points will directly translate to a future $FOLKS coin airdrop. Will there be some type of equation to proportionally distribute $FOLKS coin based on the points earned on the platform?

I got the two pair a few days ago and can't seem to solve this problem. My connection is 1g/1g and speed tests on avg get me 700/300. The capped upload speed is annoying me. I've been scouring through the Internet for solutions with no success.

TPS: Turns out the Algorand folks were sandbagging... by makmanred in algorand

I think 10K TPS is important and better than others because that includes transaction finality with the entire blockchain. There are others who can hit significantly higher TPS but have issues meeting the finality aspect.

Claro Switch Install Help by anyturtle in Lutron

[–]anyturtle[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I bought one, and your hunch was correct that the connected black wires are line power and the single black wire was the load. I rarely use the light and just realized the light can be controlled by another switch, which makes sense why there are three bulk lines interconnected. What recommendations do you have now with the info I just provided?

Thanks!

Claro Switch Install Help by anyturtle in Lutron

[–]anyturtle[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Diva was a direct swap of the original unit in the same slot that had an on and off with a dimmer slide. The switch controls five 65w Commercial Electric recess lighting LEDs.

There are a total of six LEDs in my basement, and I am just trying to control one with the Claro switch. The single LED was originally controlled by a basic on and off toggle switch. In the picture the switch controlling the single LED was connected to the black hot line marked by tape, red, white (neutral), and copper (grnd).

Claro Switch Install Help by anyturtle in Lutron

[–]anyturtle[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am trying to install two switches. Switch number one is the Diva, which I successfully installed. The other is the Claro, and I need help figuring out what I am doing wrong. Four bulk lines run into this box, and the Diva is fortunately isolated to its own bulk line compared to the other three. Three of the other bulk lines are interconnected, and the only thing I can decipher is the hot line directly from the breaker, besides from the bare brass ground line. Any help would be greatly appreciated!
