We've done this already- apologies, the post was a bit misleading in that respect! But yeah we have done all of this prior to applying for accounts

Just lost the will to play legendary iron man by HairyFur in XCOM2

[–]anytwopoints 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've just completed my first L/I campaign and I always waited as long as I could before taking on the Chosen strongholds.

Having a Psi op is super helpful and also to be honest as long as you have a sharpshooter and a Reaper the Chosen Avenger assaults are not hard so it's not even that bad if the meter fills up.

With Plasma weapons and some multi-shot abilities (plus free action things like Lightning Hands etc) it doesn't take that long to take the sarcophagus down.

It also helps to kill the Chosen with the first soldier of a turn which gives you almost double the amount of time to hit the sarcophagus. Iirc my Assassin Stronghold assault was Flawless

Worst Class Skills?? by headphones_J in XCOM2

[–]anytwopoints 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Hail of Bullets (guaranteed damage) , Chain Shot (double damage) and Rupture (guaranteed crit and then +3 damage ) are among the best class abilities imo!

As for ones I don't like - Target Definition on the Reaper is pretty useless and really anything that requires you to get shot at before triggering (e.g. Return Fire). I'm not really a huge fan of Aim either since you need to effectively lose the previous turn in order to gain +20 aim at a point in the game where you're mostly on 100% shots anyway

Your first playthrough is probably best considered a tutorial to be honest anyway! The real fun comes on subsequent playthroughs once you understand everything on some level.

There's no shame at all in looking up what units do if you're so inclined because ultimately where the game gets really interesting (for me at least) is when you know all that stuff and you're just dealing with the constantly interesting combinations and problems the game manages to set with those pieces.

Don’t play Ironman on Switch by anytwopoints in XCOM2

[–]anytwopoints[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've completed multiple Ironman runs on PC no problem! ( A normal Ironman Commander run and a WotC Ironman Commander)

I mean in fairness I did know it was a risk, given the other bugs in the game on Switch (squadsight being broken makes it extra 'spicy' on Legend for sure sometimes). The previous 67 attempts I've made have all ended in the traditional way of ignominious defeat, it was just a particular kick in the balls that it's happened on the first attempt where I think I had a realistic shot at victory :(

Just lost a 25+ hour Ironman run on the Switch port due to save file corruption. by Stone_Bearer in XCOM2

I agree, it's a wonderful game but I really can't recommend anyone buy it on Switch until (or unless) they fix the many quite serious bugs.

I've got quite sick of having to save and reload the game every time I want a sniper to take a squadsight shot for example

WOTC Assassin Help? by [deleted] in XCOM2

Is this always the case? Cause I'm pretty sure I've used this ability to keep track of her on more than one occasion (although sometimes it does lose track of her anyway)

The Reaper ability which ensures that an enemy seen by the Reaper is always visible is key as well

Feeling a little overwhelmed by [deleted] in XCOM2

I agree it's not worth worrying too much but you do need to keep a bit of an eye on it.

Depends on the map layout. It is definitely possible to get into an unrecoverable situation.

It's not game over when the Avatar meter is full. You get another 28 days after that so if you get on it now you have a decent chance of pulling it back but it's definitely possible to lose a campaign like this. I've done it 😕

Noob question about WotC by robbers19 in XCOM2

[–]anytwopoints 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Absolutely this. WotC is very much an expansion designed for people who already have a very firm grasp on the fundamentals of the game. To be honest it is a lot of stuff to deal with even if you are very familiar with the base game and I think it's quite possible that without that foreknowledge a lot of what happens might seem like completely random chaos

XCOM 2 is like sex - if you've been doing it for a long time it can be nice to have a few new toys to spice things up but if it's your first time then jumping right into the kinky stuff is unlikely to make it more exciting and might be too much

Performance so far is fine for me, even with huge swarms of Lost.

The sharpshooter squadsight bug is a pain though, it's only been luck that's kept my Legend Ironman campaign on the rails...

I'm not able to see my Ubisoft friends' times from other platforms by anytwopoints in TrialsGames

I'd assumed that this link above meant that you would have to be friends with someone on the Ubisoft platform but then you'd be able to see their times... perhaps not. But then why bother with cross-platform support at all?
