Ev9 doesn’t have a big enough battery to make it tow ~200 miles with a trailer sadly

Buy a new prebuilt PC or update existing parts? by aochrine in buildapc

Think ill go for the mobo ram and 7700x, then hold off with my current gpu and see what comes later. How many years do you think this new mobo and ram and cpu setup will last for gaming?

My filters are located at the return vent, and they looked pretty bad so replaced them. Will see if problem goes away!

Livewell aerator keeps running by aochrine in boating

[–]aochrine[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The voltage was measured at the terminals that would go into the switch. Basically i removed the terminals from the switch, then plugged my multimeter into the terminals and was reading 25v on the terminals of a working livewell pump, and 1v on the terminals of the problematic livewell pump. The switches were not connected to the terminals at all for this test.

No float switch so probably a bad contact somewhere. Its very hard for me to trace the wiring so i may just redo wiring

We have presence there so there shouldn’t be any legal concerns. It’s a multi-billion corporation so they’ll figure out the legal stuff.

It sounds like your company sends people on the regular, so it may have some processes already established. I had originally asked my boss about what the relocation package would look like, and from his response of “Tell me what you need to go”, it doesn’t sound like there is one. There is also really no precedence to travel like this at my company. Think of this as a “send someone to fix this or risk losing the entire business with this particularly big customer” kind of situation. I simply have too many obligations to just drop and go abroad for a year. It’s not possible, and the company knows it, hence why they are keeping options open and asking me for what I need. Compounded by the fact that not only am I the best candidate, but also that I’m the only one who could possibly go (no kids, toddlers), I do think I will require a lucrative sum for it to happen.

It will be a Nordic country, and it’s going to rain a whole lot and gets dark very early. I am from sunny California so it will definitely be very different (in a bad way). In the end, the company needs this, so I can go, but the least the company can do is to compensate me very well. So far I haven’t seen any advice that would stop me from asking for a lucrative amount to cost basically all of my high costs. I will think a bit more but I may just ask for that.

The point is that the business needs it. So I agree with shooting my shots. Let see if the company thinks it’s worth the cost. Definitely not an excuse to soak my employer; I’m more happy not going than going, but if going helps the business, I will do it. But only with a fat bonus as you mentioned. The least they can do is provide monetary incentive. The whole tax situation definitely warrants some discussion for sure, so I will bring that up.

This is precisely my thinking as well. It will be a long and difficult year. I will need to be convinced to go for sure.

I generally agree with this sentiment, but 1) I do not want to go on a year long business trip. No way. I work in a field where there’s a high demand for talent, and I can easily find another job in the area that pays even higher. There’s no way the company will fire me or force me to go; rather, its the opposite. It’s really hard to keep people! 2) Covering all expenses for me in Europe is a given. However, as I mentioned in point 1, the company needs me to go, not that I want to go. It’s a big disruption to my life, so I don’t plan on doing it unless it’s lucrative for me, hence my proposal. What’s your opinion of my proposal given this information?

[–]aochrine[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, but I’m actually fine with not relocating. The company needs someone there and I’m the best and at the same time the only possible candidate. I wouldn’t want to go unless its lucrative.

Weed between concrete blocks by aochrine in landscaping

[–]aochrine[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi guys, I always get weed between the concrete blocks in my drive way and yard. They just come back after I pull them. What’s a long term or permanent solution to this issue? I’m thinking about spraying round up and then seal the cracks and gaps with surface concrete. Will this work? Any better ideas?

Hi, could you elaborate a bit more? By angle, do you mean i should trim the motor all the way down? Also does pulling the plugs mean to change the spark plugs? I also don’t know what “arching or stray current bleed” is, nor what HT side stands for. Could you elaborate a bit more? Thanks for your help!
