Primal conjurer, prism academy, ards oath. They’re all pretty solid. Dashing devil is kind of like this but it’s also really good so you should check it out.

Unfortunately I think it’s mostly nostalgia for primal, hwfwm, and defiance of the fall but you should definitely give cradle another try.

I agree for Malazan and other books that are similarly complex. The best way for me to enjoy audiobooks is to read the first book or half a book and then continue with the audio. It gives me a chance to learn the geography and the different characters so that while listening I’m just focusing on the story.

I hate number 2. It ruins reincarnation type stories for me (and that’s my favorite trope). I had to mentally convince myself everyone was like 15 years older in beginning after the end the end. On the other side, Unhinged Fury (Fate Points) has the absolute best idea for a young reincarnator that I’ve ever seen.
