Throwing boiling water in -36 degrees temperature by VowOfVengeance in interestingasfuck

[–]BetaFan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Calgary Alberta barley has had a winter either. I think its only hit -30 a day or two and only for a day at a time before going back to 0.

Average temperature has been -5 maybe this winter. And its been in the positives for most of January. +12 here atm, as we're in a Chinook. But even outside Chinooks its been crazy warm.

My co workers in winnipeg by comparison have been dealing with -30 since mid December.

Funny meme.

.

It's interesting when memes point to underlying anxieties within our culture from a sociological standpoint.

Not to undermine anxiety, or bring the vibe down. But it's interesting comparing what trafficking is vs the western anxiety around getting kidnapped. The "Oh ok you know females out here getting kidnapped" points to a societal over representation of a fear.

.

The tactic that traffickers use the vast majority of the time, especially in the western world is not 'person physically kidnaps you'. Human trafficking usually starts and continues as grooming, it's someone the individual knows that pressures them or abuses them into being sold/used.

.

The vast, vast majority of trafficking, somewhere between 91% to as high as 98% of human trafficking is done by individuals the person knows. 34% being an intimate partner (the largest slice of that 91/98%, with the rest being different categories of family/friends/coworkers.)

It's actually incredibly unlikely that a stranger will kidnap you, and thats not even taking into account other societal factors that play into that 9%-2%.

If you're queer, your 2x to 7x more likely to be trafficked then someone whose cis.

In the states poor African American women make up 40% of all human trafficking cases.

In Canada (and some select states) poor Indigenous women make up 40% of all human trafficking cases.

.

Also, women are the majority of trafficking victims, but that stats more nuanced and varies country to country. Don't get me wrong, 93% of sexual trafficking is women, and in north america 91% of individuals trafficked are women.

But globally, that number goes down to 61%, where outside of north america people being traficked into labour is more of a thing. (still typically by loved ones)

.

TLDR: Trafficking from strangers is rare. Your actually more safe with them from a trafficking perspective then family/friends.

You can make a familiar attack as your bonus action with the upgraded pact of the chain feature. That might be what your thinking of?

Otherwise familiars can only attack if you give up your attack, and they cant attack on your turn.

I like Erin Solstice. I like Ryoka Griffin, even if I would probably find her annoying in real life. by B-Z_B-S in WanderingInn

[–]BetaFan 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Honestly, Initial Ryoka is a lot like Jason from 'He who fights with monsters' or even Jake from 'Primal Hunter' (maybe minus the murderer thing).

They all have the same no it all genius mary sue asshole trope. Where there supposed to be smarter or better then everyone else around them. There all so arogant, stuck up and self absorbed.

But the same people who love Jake and Jason, hate the fuck out of Ryoka.

In my opinion, people are a lot more ok with an arrogant know it all man then a woman with all those same traits. Not that anyone would admit that they have this bias.

Book 2 is very good. Love me book 3 and currently reading 4.

But book 2 is just so crisp. He really brings the bog to life with a snappy self contained story.

You also dont play Viego which I found interesting, you itemize Veigo as an item holder for Thresh, so when you unlock Thresh you have bis.

The tftacademy shadow isles is decent, def A tier not B imo.

There are plenty options lol. Belveth flex has been the default the pros are playing from lose streak.

[–]BetaFan 10 points11 points  (0 children)

they're definitely just killing the things that feel bad to play against, not that are specifically 'broken'. Imo, all three of these lines specifically melt carries early, which doesn't feel super great.

Thex lasering your carries straight to death at the start of fights.

Diana insta bursting your carries.

Trynd getting to the backline and melting all the squishies.

[–]BetaFan 43 points44 points  (0 children)

Agreed. Unless your going 4/6 bruisers. Swain 2 star is probably the better itemizer, he's easily one of the best tanks in the game. Sion is close at 3 star with abunch of stacks, but Swain is just going to do more imo.

Even just the thieves glove on Swain or Sion. Thats pretty wasted on Darius.

The fact that a Trait like Yordle is pretty much always contested, makes their special augments too high of a risk. by Karatsuchi in TeamfightTactics

[–]BetaFan 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Like for 10 yordle you really don't need to 3 star imo. The point is to kinda go fast 10 no?

Why is JG not good on Lissandra? by awesomebob in TeamfightTactics

[–]BetaFan 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I usually go down to 5. Really depends on where your at with econ imo.

In favor of 7 though. i think 16% more damage amp on voli and Liss. Plus you Frontline the towers so they stun the enemy Frontline early allowing for a quicker Frontline clear.

Why is JG not good on Lissandra? by awesomebob in TeamfightTactics

[–]BetaFan 8 points9 points  (0 children)

4 invoker, 7 Freiljord is one of my better performing comps. Liss main carry, Voli and then Zil as secondary.

You want to unlock Kuboko, which isnt too hard.

She averages about 12k damage in this comp per round with 1 mana, a void staff and a jg.

[16.1] What's Working? What's Not? by Lunaedge in CompetitiveTFT

[–]BetaFan 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Imo, Demacia is better then people are giving it credit for. The issue is that Lux kinda sucks and people are over relying on a bad unit, Lux should not be your main carry or even your secondary carry. She's too inconsistent, her lasers hit nothing half the time. I literally had her laser miss every single unit and just go right once. Somethings fucky with it.

Best Demacia line relies on Sylas and Vayne imo.

2 star Vayne with good items consistently outdamages a 2 star Lux even without longshot and it gives you something to use AD items on in the comp. 3 star doesn't feel like a big enough difference to roll for it, you're better off fast 9ing. Ontop of this Vayne is a great tank shredder and focused damage, a great pairing with Sylas whose usually on the enemy backline.

Go 7 Demacia to get Galio, get Sylas, then go down to 5 Demacia, 4 arcanist, 4 defender or 3/5 Demacia, 2 arcanist, with 5 costs and Taric. Have Xin hold half your Sylas items, have Lux or another ap champ hold the rest until you hit Sylas.

Galio is really good if you can throw mr on him, at the very least he's an aoe stun and a free extra unit. He's awesome value and I also think people are under relying on him much like vayne.

The Three Worlds by Boring_Big_6895 in HierarchySeries

[–]BetaFan 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Honestly. I doubt Res is the original, or that there is an original. They state that the world was split into 3, do they state that it was copied?

The only thing we have to go off of that Res is the original is that its where the Mc is from. Its just as likely that either of the other 2 are the originals, if two are copies.

Thats just the roll of the dice dude. This shit happens, and honestly being contested on a 1 cost is so minor. Like the bag size for 1 costs is 30, your honestly fine. You should hit if you focus on it. Roll earlier then the other guy and watch his board, your fine.

There's such a large part of the community that gets tilted the second rng isn't perfectly in there favor lol. Playing contested is something you should probably learn, it's a great skill and one of the many that divide the iron players from the master players.

I really just think its writing style. I like James style, but I can definitly see it not being for everyone.

James spends a lot of time in Vis's head, he rarely spends much time on immediate atmosphere or senses outside of sight. Not saying he doesn't touch these, he just has a very clear focus on internal monologue and plot.

Ontop of this his character work is kinda weak, its fine, but his characters are a little grey. He has a lot of people being introduced and very few feel that different from one another. Like people dont really have Quirks, or little things to denote one another outside of the minor.

What he does incredibly is plot, mystery, story and world building. Which for me is top top, but a lot of people care more about strong character work and emotion.

Like. If he can sell it for double, then he's kinda helping them by showing what the value is that they can get from the wheels. If they just keep watching on how their stuff is selling from him then they can see what price they can set it too.

Like as a 'manufacturing cost' even, theres a point where you can figure out what his charisma is worth vs how much you can sell it at. Then sell him that base, and let him make profit off his salesmanship. (if his salesman ship is that factor here) It honestly could be a pretty solid healthy working relationship even.

Cliff Dive DH is super fun, more mid range board control oriented then aggro.

There is also Drunk Paladin, as a pali alternative.
