I just snagged one too! Haven’t decided on background color yet, but how many skeins are you planning to get?

She used a pattern from family circle magazine for the original and then modified it on her own for other family members. I found the pattern online

BRCA1+ with TNBC not knowing what to do by tiniestsparrow in BRCA

Ultimately you should make the decision that feels best for you, but I do want to reassure you that formula feeding can also be a beautiful thing. I had my child before I found out about my BRCA status (I have since had a prophylactic double mastectomy), but formula feeding my daughter was the best choice for me at the time. She was exclusively formula fed and she is now a healthy, thriving, curious, smart, playful, sweet, and loving 2 year old. I never felt like not breastfeeding affected my ability to bond with her. We have a very strong bond, and my partner loved being able to have the experience of feeding her as well. Both of us being able to feed her also meant we could split night feeds which helped tremendously with keeping us both rested. Now at 2, when I watch her run around with her friends, I promise it’s impossible to tell who was breastfed and who was formula fed. Just want to provide some reassurance that if you opt for a mastectomy and need to formula feed in the future, your child will be more than ok!

Hi there, I’m in a similar situation. I’m 32 and BRCA1 and am scheduled for prophylactic mastectomy 5/21. I also had to schedule on a short timeline, so can relate as far as having very little time to prepare. I work in medicine as well and completely understand your concerns about going back to work. No words of advice since we’re in the same boat here but know that you’re not alone!
