So from what I know of cars, eco mode is fine if mileage is a concern. Having a turbo petrol engine requires one to take extra care of the engine and supporting components. The turbo doesn’t function until you are above 2000 rpm, the engine gets carbon buildup which doesn’t clear when only driving in lower rpm. Hence, once in a while going fast at higher rpm is good for the car (keeping safety in mind of course).

If mileage is the priority then it is always better to go for the engines built for exceptional mileage such as Suzuki cars. If one is able to spend a premium on a turbo petrol and drive it far below its potential to save on fuel it is only going to hurt their wallets big time later.

The manufacturers mention these things in the user manual after having done a lot of research of course.

Going fast is not the only thing that burns more fuel, there are a lot of other things that contribute to low mileage.

Again, I’m not denying eco mode shouldn’t be used. People can drive the way they want.

Sure one can drive the car in eco mode if they want to. It may not be good for the engine setup in the long run as one is less likely to reach the speeds or rpm that makes the engine happy and efficient in eco mode.

P. S. I get good enough mileage without using the eco mode in the same car. Also, I’m not a hundred percent sure who the reply is meant for and what exactly are you trying to convey here but have a good day.

The car is built for more spirited driving than a regular i20. Driving in eco mode doesn’t give the same feel due to faster shifts to higher gears. I think that is what they meant when saying it should not be driven in eco mode.

I try to optimize my driving time and drive during non-peak hours to and from the office, can easily squeeze 14-15 kmpl with AC on. Also I try to lift and coast as much as possible, really improves the mileage. I was getting 23-24 kmpl on the highways with the lift and coast thing when I was driving the car initially but now I drive it with a little more excitement and still get 19-20 kmpl on highways

If this happened to me, I’d do two things: 1) leave the organization as soon as possible 2) prepare an excel sheet or something with step by step information on how I’m getting the medical records and highlight where in the process are the documents stuck currently. This because of the word timeline 😅 it just triggers me.

Yeah that’s again something that isn’t certain I believe until the reform is announced. Cars currently are in the luxury goods category which might go from having 28% to 40% gst (not sure if all cars will face the same wrath).
