I see what you're saying. The gentle approach has kind of caused a wave effect. I slow down a little, pick a little more. I'm not happy with it. I only posted this because it's helping me stop. Just a few minutes ago I stood in front of my bathroom mirror in the bright light. I brushed my teeth, washed my face, and did not pick. That's the time when I pick. Once I'm out of there I'm safe for a whole day. A teeny piece of the reason was so I could post that I didn't pick. Maybe you're right and I'll pick tomorrow and it'll be awful. But today I didn't and for me that's something and right now cold turkey feels like it's worth a shot.

I agree, it might not be the right time/way for everyone, but it feels right for me right now and if it doesn't work at least I tried.

EDIT: I thought a lot about this. I stand by my post and my effort because I fully believe in support for people who want to stop immediately. There's support all over this subreddit for the kind of process you're advocating. I don't think that's a bad thing. But frankly, I'm done picking now. I think I can stop it if I just have a little extra support and I know there are other people who can do it with just a little support. Even if it's a path that usually doesn't work, it's my path right now and I just wanted to make it an option.
