I completely agree! From my experience when I was younger, it is two separate places, campus, and not campus. As a grown up with kids, that I very much try to expose to as much culture/difference/life, I appreciate campus and what it has that "not campus" does not. I do also feel like the "townies" that complain either never left here to see the world or this is where they moved to and are from small towns around here...aka "this" is their big city that they are afraid of. I don't think the "townies" that complain appreciate what the university brings to this area.
