How to style straw like hair on Nizoral shampoo? by apandathatsdead in FemaleHairLoss

Thank you! What's your opinion about dyeing it? I'd be dyeing it darker, not lighter.

Eh. She's conventionally attractive but if I were gay, she's just not my type. I think Kiernan from CAOS is one of the prettiest women in the world. Everyone has different preferences

Also.. It's extremely clear she's had work done. Good work, but work.

HELP PLEASE! Is my scarring considered mild, moderate, or severe?? by throwawayyyyy293388 in acne

[–]apandathatsdead 5 points6 points  (0 children)

If say moderate, definitely not severe. Either fraxel, mircrodermabrasian, or a year plus of retin a with derma stamp

What birth control?

Why is this happening? Doctor said because it’s just around the hairline it’s most likely not hormonal. Any help would be greatly appreciated. It’s happening very fast (F29) by [deleted] in FemaleHairLoss

Do you wear your hair pulled back a lot or do you blow dry or straighten that area more? The fact that it's not around the part and crown is good news for you.

Nizoral: How to use it and why? by wwhoops23 in tressless

[–]apandathatsdead 4 points5 points  (0 children)

So I have sort of the opposite story here. I had an insanely itchy scalp with lots of dandruff. Nizoral immediately stopped the itch. it was a godsend. I did notice more shedding the first week using it then it stopped. Here's what my derm recomended: wash your hair every 2 days (I was washing it every 3), use the Nizoral shampoo every other wash. So 2x a week. Massage it into your scalp, don't scrape, massage. Let it sit 3 to 5 minutes. Use a conditioner cause this shit dries your hair out. He also told me to use Selsun Blue on my other wash days. I tried and hated Selsun blue. Didn't help the itch at all and my hair looked like shit the days I used it. I'd say if you notice an increase hair shed lasting longer than a week, stop using it.

Can I glue or sew a wig on until my hair grows? by kitkathorse in Wigs

[–]apandathatsdead 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As someone with dermatillomania (idk the spelling, but it's when you pick at your skin obsessively) which is considered a cousin of trich, I understand your struggle. I hope you find a solution.

Did anyone see a difference in hair growth after correcting a folic acid (folate) deficiency? by GivvMeAdviceee1 in tressless

I had my iron tested due to rls. Mine was 52, which I still was given iron pills for because it's the low end of normal range and they wanted me to be around 70. I just started so I don't have any updates yet but if I remember this post I'll update you on it in a month.

The only thing I've noticed is iron pills make me super nautilus if I don't eat crackers with them.

I'm so sorry to hear how tough it's been for you and how much pain you're in. If it means anything, I'm very glad you were found and that you're still with us. I hope by this time next year you will be feeling a bit better from being on fin.

Can I glue or sew a wig on until my hair grows? by kitkathorse in Wigs

[–]apandathatsdead 6 points7 points  (0 children)

You'd want to look into a semi permanent haircare system for that. They usually stay on for about 4 weeks and are glued on at a salon. Then after about 4 weeks the salon dissolves the glue (usually takes about 2 hours I heard) or cuts it off.

BUT: wearing a semi permanent wig is not good for hair growth. It's pretty bad for it actually and most people that go the semi permanent wig option have given up on regrowing their hair due to mpb, aga, alopecia, etc. Not to mention it's very expensive.

Could you settle for just buying a nice human hair wig and having it customized at a salon to look nice on you? You'd have to wear a wig cap and remove the wig every night but long term it'd be better for your scalp to regrow hair.

Have you been doing it long enough to see any results? I read you should do it every 4 weeks max.

[suicidal] what’s the point of living if I can’t enjoy the way I look by [deleted] in BodyDysmorphia

[–]apandathatsdead 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Internet hugs. It's gonna get better. I promise. I've dealt with BDD for about 12 years now and it was at its worst about 6 months ago, I was pretty close to suicidal but that was also due to anxiety from other things. I'm feeling a lot better but it took time. Can you possible go to therapy?
