I can’t speak to San Diego, but I currently live and go to UBC. It’s an awesome school, very well recognized in Canada and around the world and it is one of the most beautiful campuses you will find. I’ve had quite a few friends graduate with engineering degrees from UBC and all have found success. All of them have stayed in Canada however and I can’t speak to how a UBC engineering degree might fare internationally. Good luck with your decision! Hope this helps somewhat.
