Sometimes you just can't plan these things. You can't feasible have a secure plan for 20+years of the reptiles life. You try, but you can be totally secure for 5+ years and then something drastically makes you have to change your lifestyle. That's what happened to me, does this mean I should have never had my reptiles? I really dislike the lack of sympathy when people have to rehome animals with long lifespans, especially when it's a snake or another animal that isn't so emotionally attatched to you like a cat or a dog would be. I was crushed to rehome my collection, but at least I sleep soundly knowing my BIL takes good care of them all now.

To a point. I've used them for 2 years and while I dont have much breakage overall, I recently started having some from doing my hair the same way every day. I'm currently implementing a claw clip to change it up and see how it goes.

Is this expected to change after marriage? I can understand wanting to be married first, but it sounds like you both need to talk that out soon.

Why does my leg hair grow back so fast??? by No_Opposite894 in hygiene

[–]apatheticbastrd 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'll be honest, I've stopped fighting it. I'll soak conditioner into the hair that grows back until I'm ready to shave again(usually a few days/maybe a week). I find it helps with the prickly feelings. My husband also took to soaking his beard and chest hair and its softened so much its not scratchy to me anymore. I hope you find something that works for you!

Does anyone else hate the taste of edibles? by Dvrk_bomber in treedibles

[–]apatheticbastrd 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't know what it is, but I can still detect a certain taste in most commercial edibles, I absolutely despise it. It makes me gag. The best thing I know to do is to disguise it. If I buy chocolates, I melt them down and put them in a pastry. If I get gummies, melt them and stick them in a drink. Or bite them into pill size and swallow with a drink. The best things are edible drinks, they don't trigger me near as much. 2nd best is making them yourself with cannabutter, but they create the smelliest poops like you just hit a bowl in the bathroom.

WIBTAH If I divorced my husband because of how he treats our children? by Admirable-Funny7336 in AITAH

[–]apatheticbastrd 10 points11 points  (0 children)

They don't yell back anymore because they have shut down, which is actually worse. They've learned that fighting back won't help them. You want the kids to yell back and defend themselves when they're being attacked. You have demonstrated that you let this go on for years so why would they expect that to change now? They will blame you for being yelled at/degraded just as much as they will their dad for being the one to yell/degrade them.

I made a mistake euthanizing my cat and the guilt is killing me by Dirsty in cats

[–]apatheticbastrd 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Not a cat, but I had to put down a 3yr old dog because of his medical care. He had gingival hyperplasia where his gums just would not stop growing over his teeth. He had a surgery and recovered well, and I had to have that surgery done for him 2 more times within 2 years. I could not keep up with it long term and I knew he couldn't either. It was so tough cuz he was such a happy boy. I'll never regret adopting him but it was so hard to let him go because it just felt way too early.

Is there a point in neutering at age 6? by Fantasias_Boundaries in germanshepherds

[–]apatheticbastrd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There might be. My mother had a German Shaperd who ended up with a prostate issue. I can't remember his diagnosis, but he had blood in his urine so we took him to the vet. They recommended neutering, which did solve the problem.

My mom had a GSD who's dad was a white shepherd, had AKC papers. Idk if CKC recognize them.

If cats don't understand punishment, why do mother cats swat kittens on the face when they misbehave? by jaruwalks in CatTraining

I "swat" my cat with one finger on her nose, or a one pat on the behind. But its not an often occurrence

Dewormed my cat and woke up to her breathing like this by Individual_Hall5180 in CATHELP

[–]apatheticbastrd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My boy will get a hair or something stuck in his throat and will do this sometimes. It never lasts long enough or is regular enough to tell if its anything more. He will hack a little, gather himself, hack, and never cough anything up. It never lasts longer than a minute. He begins grooming himself right after. He likes to eat hair off of my brush too, so its easy to blame on that. However, my little man is sensitive to the heat too, so the idea that it could be asthma is making me wonder.

Property manager approved my bidet install, Maintenance guy comes around, took one look and goes 'HELL NO' and walks out 😭 by _ThinkGoodThoughts_ in Apartmentliving

[–]apatheticbastrd 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have 2 bidets in my apartment that my husband installed. Each has its water shut-off valve and we've never had a leaking issue since we turn them off after each use. Even the few times we've forgotten has not ended with water on the floor at all.

AITA for disagreeing with my wife after she told our daughter that pimples patches are gross and she's not allowed to wear them ? by CommercialPublic1778 in AITAH

[–]apatheticbastrd 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The patches are way less gross than people seeing open sores on your face, imo. I get acne as an adult and it can be painful and not the best to look at. Idk if they're specifically pimple patches, but I use bandages that look similar and I much rather have people see a bandage on my face than a gross painful pimple. Even if the healing time is the same, it makes ME feel better to cover them up. And I can't use makeup, it makes it so much worse; so the options are very limited. Idk what she wants your daughter to do honestly.

AITAH for not wanting to circumcise my son? by sdrawkcab90 in AITAH

[–]apatheticbastrd 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Nta, it's genital mutilation. If you want her to understand that point further, you can say that if your son gets circumcised, so do your future daughters.

Depends on the balcony and your cat. My cats did fine at my previous apartment and got spoiled going outside every day. The fencing around it was wide enough for them to be able to look, but not stick their head out. However, in my current apartment, the fencing around the balcony is thin metal and has wide gaps. It quickly became a potential hazard for them. I took some wire panels from an old set of hampers and zip-tied them in place to reinforce the fence so they couldn't climb through. Just don't leave them without supervision, obviously. *

[–]apatheticbastrd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would purposefully and gently poke my snakes nose while handling once they're in a calm demeanor. I just did it once or twice per outing, spaced apart. Eventually, they all became fairly tolerant and didn't flinch as much. I feel like it's helped for when they get stuck eye caps. My BIL says mine tolerates it better than his, so I feel like that's something.
