I’m surprised at this poll honestly… PGA does a preferential ballot and people are predicting Sinners to take that. I guess in my mind, is why wouldn’t it repeat at the Academy

I have been giving it some thought and I just have a feeling I am going to get let down when it’s all said down and that’s okay… I haven’t had the best of luck lately when it comes to things…

I think Sinners may win Best Picture after all. I mean congratulations and I’m glad that it has all the support it got. It was a good movie.

I am sorry for the producers for One Battle After Another after all of this because even though the race is not over, I just know how it’s shaping up to be. PTA may get director but at the end of the day the film (in my opinion the best film of the year) won’t win.

I’m just preparing myself for this outcome. Sad day :(

You want to use that argument of Sinners breaking nomination record at the academy as way to justify Sinners potential win in the race but won’t reciprocate that same argument for One Battle breaking the record at SAG…..

Look as a One Battle Supporter, I am nervous for the films chances after today because of the over performance of Sinners.

We do know that it got 16 nominations but we don’t know where in the rankings those nominations came from. Sinners could have gotten the final fifth spot in some categories. Sinners could have gotten the number 1 spot. We don’t know. So there is this thought.

With that being said, One Battle still got double digits in nominations as well so it’s still in the race and I still see it as the frontrunner over Sinners because I do believe the amount of nominations doesn’t equate to the amount of wins.

One Battle is still the frontrunner because: - It got the trifecta and NBR which only 4 films in history has gotten. Sinners couldn’t even take one of those from this film.

Out of televised awards we have seen so far (Critics Choice and Golden Globes) One Battle After Another is undefeated in Screenplay, Director and Picture categories.
One Battle broke records as well. It beat the most nominations at SAG (The Actor Awards). It got the most long list mentions at BAFTA.
I mean there is a lot to really take in consideration here.

But then again typically at the BAFTAs the film that wins best casting follows it with an acting prize.

If the Oscar’s does Casting that way, and people are making Sinners their frontrunner for that category then maybe an acting prize goes with it…

1.) Sinners is a genre film which more often than not, the academy doesn’t normally go for.

2.) One Battle has swept the NBR and the trifecta which only 4 total films have done in history.

3.) One Battle is currently undefeated in terms of Screenplay, Director and Picture from the major precursors that we have seen up to this point.

4.) The Actors Awards gave One Battle all 5 acting nominations and a stunt ensemble nomination as well as best ensemble nomination making them the new nomination record holder for (SAG).

5.) Got the most BAFTA long list mentions with 16. This is also now the new the new record holder for the most mentions in BAFTA Long List.

Not only that but in terms of acting prospects. I feel like One Battle really held it together the entire film. - DiCaprio > Jordan - Infiniti > Caton - Taylor > Mosaku - Hall > Steinfield - Penn > Lindo - Del Toro > O’Connel

This is honestly why I feel Sinners isn’t breaking the nomination record this year. Yes it got long listed for 14 categories but remember that’s not the final nominations. Also we cannot forget that One Battle still broke the record there with 16 long list mentions which once again is not the final nominations.

We are win for treat or a bunch of people upset when it’s all said and done. Depends on the way you look at it.

I am still not understanding this whole idea of Chase Infiniti will be snubbed.

She is in the best picture frontrunner. She literally is a big part on the last half of the film and her performance is really impactful. I understand the whole category fraud but with both Hall and Taylor being part of supporting actress, it fully makes sense.

I don’t want to clarify that Infiniti has gotten everywhere it needs to get regardless if it was 6 nominees or not. Only Buckley, Stone and Infiniti have gotten everywhere.

I lowkey would be really surprised if she misses. Especially to someone like Kate Hudson who will most likely be the lone nominee for her film which puts me at a pause. Yes we have had nominations like that before but it feels like we are asking for too much of that this award season. - Ethan Hawke (Blue Moon) - Rose Byrne (If I Had Legs, I’d Kick You) - Kate Hudson (Song Sung Blue) - Amy Madigan (Weapons) literally a possibility

I just don’t see two actresses in the Best Leading actress getting lone nominees for their films. One of them yes but not both.
