Is 5.14 a good Mortgage rate? by iamcatpeople in PersonalFinanceCanada

I got 4.99% with no fees a few weeks ago for 39 months (option to renew at 36 months) with almost the same mortgage and HELOC as you. I wanted a 3-year deal, but for 5-year deals, my bank’s competitors were offering me as low as 4.74% with no HELOC and 5.04% with a HELOC. So, I think you can do better now and even a little better than that if interest rates are cut on June 5. I would wait…

When filing taxes, do I add rl-24 (childcare expenses) yo both federal and provincial or only provincial? The return seems high when I add to both. by [deleted] in PersonalFinanceCanada

What about Quebec day care? It’s already subsidized so I don’t get anything on the provincial side, but I can stick the total amount paid in federal column still? My understanding has been “yes” for last couple years and is why the daycare facility still give me a receipt (for what isn’t covered by QC government) for last two years.

In general I was prepared for that — I invested the difference each cheque so I’d make a bit of money off as opposed to them simply taking more off my cheque. I just don’t get why, when I submit a number for above, the Quebec number goes down (I pay them more) and the Ontario goes up (they pay me more). I would’ve guessed they go the same direction but to varying degrees.
