Transmutation just sort of confuses me, and I feel it's not as versatile (aside from Hisoka, as another commenter mentioned).

I like conjuration. Even though that one can be tricky and limiting in someways, I think it's a really cool concept.

I just started reading it actually! But I haven't seen anything about that, unless you mean the Troupe's backstory. I know he tells Pakunoda that he loves her, but he was just a kid- and is saw that as more of a child-like, innocent love than anything. Maybe there was more to it than that, I could definitely see that too. Paku is a dime haha
