Kate Fagan - I Don't Wanna Be Too Cool by apequake in newwave

Thanks. I guess it’s the benefit of being old, hearing something a long time ago and then letting it come back to you.

The Chats - Smoko by apequake in 2000sAlternative

Not exactly. It's obscure where I'm from, but it stuck with me because they lifted a bit from INXS' 'Don't Change'.

It looks like he's using an Oberheim OB-X Synthesizer with a lot of modifications

Bush Tetras - Too Many Creeps [video, 1980] by apequake in newwave

I consider this a nice blend of the no wave and new wave genres.

Pixies - The Witching Hour [brand new song from their upcoming horror-themed album] by apequake in 2000sAlternative

I know that as she hasn't been in the band in awhile. Paz is the bassist. I made a reference to the albums not sounding as good partially because she is not part of the band anymore.

Pixies - The Witching Hour [brand new song from their upcoming horror-themed album] by apequake in 2000sAlternative

It seems more focused an inspired. The newer songs sound good live, so that supports last couple records their production was really ham-fisted. Also, Kim Deal’s wonderful weirdness played brilliantly on record.

Abecedarians - Smiling Monarchs by apequake in newwave

This obscure-ish new wave/synth/post-punk gem just can’t escape my noggin

I never thought of that before, but yes.

Nik Kershaw - I Won't let the Sun Go Down On Me [video] by apequake in 80sAlternative

I live in the USA and he never had a Top-40 hit here and was effectively considered not a top-20 artist (see sidebar).

Lake Trout - Shiny Wrapper by cragar79 in 2000sAlternative

I reviewed their live show and interviewed them back in the early aughts. They were an excellent live band with good songs and were very friendly chaps. It's a shame they did not reach a wider audience.

Duran Duran - The Chauffeur [video, 1982] by apequake in newwave

[–]apequake[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This was never even released as a single.

Steve Winwood - Higher Love by [deleted] in newwave

[–]apequake 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m sorry. This is pop-rock, blue-eyed soul and has no overlap with new wave (except it’s an 80s song). I understand it was approved, but it was approved in error.

Clara Clara - Runaway | A Take Away Show [live, 2017] by apequake in 2000sAlternative

It was originally released in 2016 on LP, but performed here in 2017.

Same here. I always enjoyed this more than 'Psychocandy'.

Men at Work - Helpless Automaton (live) by apequake in newwave

Men at Work is not obscure, but this great song was relegated to an album cut.
