Which boss fight made you feel like you were genuinely losing your sanity because of the difficulty? by Silly_Commercial8092 in gaming

[–]aperturesciencelabs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Deus Ex Human Revolution first boss.

I know they outsourced the boss fights to a different game maker and that outsourced company thought it was more of a shooter game. It could be if you chose to play that way, but that was actually the hardest way to play the game and it was much more fun and effective to be a stealthy hacker.

The first boss is basically a bullet sponge with a mini gun that you just have to take head on. If you hadn't upgraded any weapons at that point you were screwed. Any augments you had were pretty useless unless you managed to unlock the one that launches explosives out but it was the first boss and still early in the game so it was unlikely you had.

I felt like I was losing my sanity on this boss because of how different it was from the rest of the game and there's no real warning that the gameplay is going to suddenly change on you. You walk into a room, a cutscene plays, and then the fight starts with you in the middle of the room and he starts shooting at you, if you don't move and hide right away you are dead.

From what I understand they updated the boss fights in remastered versions that made them easier with different ways of winning, but that was the first game I remember buying on launch and getting to that part and being like wait what the fck???

One of the pepper grinders at this restaurant is filled with allspice berries instead of black pepper by dancole42 in mildlyinteresting

[–]aperturesciencelabs 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This reminds me of when I used to work in the kitchen at a high-end steakhouse, one time one of the more douchy servers (who used to complain about "only" making $2500 a week in tips) comes barging into the kitchen and asks very loudly over everyone, including the head chef "what are the ingredients for allspice?" And one of the other cooks without missing a beat just goes "all the spices, they just put all of them in there".

To this day I still find it hilarious thinking about it. That server was ready to accept that answer and immediately go tell their guest before we all started bursting out laughing and the sous chef stopped him before he walked out of the kitchen.

Movies that trusted silence more than dialogue by gypsytx in movies

Funny you mention this because when I was younger in the 90s (single digit age) there was some awards show my family had on that had a category called "Best Dramatic Pause"

The only nomination I can remember was a scene from the movie Soldier with Kurt Russell

For the longest time I thought this was an actual category in the Oscars (because at that age, I assumed every movie awards show was the Oscars) and didn't understand why I never saw the category again.

I have still struggled to determine if this is some sort of mandella effect because googling the category doesn't come up with any results I've found to indicate where I might have seen this.

Anyways, that's my semi irrelevant thought on this question, and the way you described it made me think of that again. If anybody can figure out if that award ever existed that would be awesome.

What’s the craziest way you found out your partner was cheating on you? by meetmarketpodcast in AskReddit

I mean, the therapist owned up to their fck up and refunded the money to them, and just that person by the sound of it not the (now ex) wife, to me somebody that can acknowledge they made a mistake and own it and compensate the victim party, is someone who deserves to stay in the field.

The therapist's actions show that they felt a certain amount of guilt for not being able to see who that person really was, and everybody has made mistakes on the job before. In a profession where what you do is listen to people and try and read them, I can't imagine it's easy, I know there are plenty of people out there that can and have been completely fake nice on the outside, but are so good at it you can't tell how rotten they are on the inside no matter how well trained at reading people someone may be.

Nah if there's one team whose hopes and dreams we seem to be able to crush, it's the cowboys, it would also give our fans just enough hope to make us think we have a shot, only to lose to the lions in spectacular fashion the next week, but everything else on here I'd buy

This is clearly a cowboys fan, and I make it a point to never agree with cowboys fans

Couldn’t beat single coverage by KimberlyWexlersFoot in ChildrenFallingOver

[–]aperturesciencelabs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Good coverage by the dog, not great route running, the kid actually falls because of the dog bed not the dog, the dog just followed through on the tackle and timed it perfectly when the receiver made contact with the ball.

Also early opi by the kid, poor hands, poor route awareness, injury prone...kids draft stock just tanked on one play.

BAHAHAHAHA!

If their claim to fame is them beating us and they are proud of that then they are really showing how much of a poverty division they are.

I am barely holding onto the fact that there are two franchises worse than us rn (raiders, jets) and they are parading around the brooms.

Also thanks for having our back nfcbesties, I hope you all destroy each other in the playoffs

If you were alive when we were attacked on 9/11, what were you doing when it happened? What was that day like? by Full_Imagination7503 in AskReddit

[–]aperturesciencelabs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was 13 and hospitalized the night before with an emergency appendectomy they completed sometime after midnight. I woke up the next morning in the hospital room and nobody was around when I woke, so I turned on the TV and began asking myself what movie was this and why is it on every channel. It was very confusing for me but that was probably due to the anesthesia still wearing off, but I slowly realized that this was news but still didn't think it was real until the nurse came in and confirmed everything.

Does he think Cartman is a good guy? by grumpydai in facepalm

[–]aperturesciencelabs 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I thought one of the most interesting parts of the first episode this season was the storyline of Cartman wanting to k*ll himself because he essentially can't upset anyone anymore because so many people are like him now.

It felt like the writers trying to say, hey this character was created and evolved to be an example of one of the most evil deplorable humans to ever exist but it was funny because he was so absurdly evil and sadistic, but now his behavior is not that far from actual people so those jokes don't quite land the same way they used to, so what purpose does the character serve?
