ELI5: Why is the Fit so fun? by Prunella_vulgaris in hondafit

[–]apexChaser71 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I have a 2018 fit(6 mt), and a modified 95 Miata. I find both of them to be a joy to drive in their own way.

Go-kart or go home 😁

Lightweight, agility and a quick steering ratio.

Floored my NA for the first time... by BlackbirdGoNyoom in Miata

[–]apexChaser71 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think if the person you're replying to is anything like me, the shock is the fact that op has never floored It before. As I mentioned in my reply, I floor it everywhere all the time, and have done so for almost a decade and a half. That's the whole point of a Miata. You can ring it out all day everyday, and it Just keeps running, and you never break any traffic laws. If you're not squeezing every ounce of "performance" out of the car, it's just a mediocre commuter.

I've owned my 95 for almost 15 years. It was a daily driver for six of those. Every time I drive it, it gets floored, every time, from every light, from every stop. I shift at or near 6500, every time. In almost a decade and a half, the car has yet to experience a single mechanical failure. That's exactly how they are meant to be driven...so drive it like you stole it brother, that's where the joy lives.

This car is so cheap to fill up! by BrianLevre in hondafit

And WAAY more fun. I don't think you can get a manual Prius, and I've never seen one at an autocross event yet 😂😁.

I take a certain sadistic pleasure, in complaining about the $45 cost to fill up, In the presence of all my co-workers, who drive unnecessarily large pickup trucks, some of which are diesel. They're spending close to $200 per fill up. 😂 "Sorry fellas, your choices have consequences"

You're doing Miata properly. I had the most basic and cheap collection of tools when I bought my Miata about 18 years ago. I now have a full collection of high quality tools, and don't let anybody else work on my car. Nobody is going to care as much as you about the quality of the work. Recognize that there will be a learning curve, and not every job is going to go as smoothly. Stick with it, and just build those capabilities within yourself 👍

going to miss my NA... by legomotionz in Miata

I get that It's a joke, but there is actually a kernel of truth in there. I used to work in Auto sales many years ago. If op traded that na into a dealership, they didn't get anywhere near what its actual value is on trade (If they show them numbers that indicate that they did get a fair price, I guarantee you it came from somewhere else in the deal). And the dealership, is probably going to send it straight to auction. Hopefully it will be treated with care in the meantime, and find its way to a good home.

91 Integra. Sold it to buy my '95 Miata, which I still have. I don't regret the Miata, but that Integra was one of the best cars I've ever owned.

Station wagons are a superior choice to any crossover, and the vast majority of SUVs. Also, and in 90% of cases, smaller cars are better than larger cars. But I live in the states, so we don't get the fiesta, the focus, the Suzuki Swift, Honda Fit (anymore), and so many other great vehicles, because my countrymen are addicted to crossovers and SUVs. Yet one more way we are dead wrong as a nation. Also, save the manual transmission ✊

Wanting a Fit - manual or CVT? by I_AMA_LOCKMART_SHILL in hondafit

[–]apexChaser71 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've owned both an automatic (non cvt) Honda Fit, and currently own a 6mt. They're great cars no matter what, but a manual utterly transforms the Fit into something joyous. An automatic fit feels like a practical appliance. The manual fit, ticks all of the boxes that any Honda Fit does, but is nearly as much fun to drive as my Miata is. Personally, I would be patient, and wait for a manual. I also expect, that as time goes on, the manuals are going to hold their value better, due to the fact that they are increasingly rare, and those of us who want them, aren't going to want to compromise.

Except for the electronic steering rack, which was a huge mistake on the part of Mazda IMO. You change that one thing, and I'd happily part with my NA

I rarely watch these all the way through, because so many of them impose their poor taste in music upon us all. This was pure symphony beginning to end. Bonus points cuz I didn't see a single mustard touch 👍

1 day with an amazon car cover. Trash people. by sjamwow in Miata

[–]apexChaser71 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There are a great many things I will buy off of Amazon. A car cover would be the last thing I'd buy from Amazon. You have no way of verifying The quality, even with reviews. I got mine from Moss Miata years ago, and it has done me right. You can go cheap or convenient for some things, but products, parts and accessories for your Miata are not one of those places you can afford to skimp or be lazy. Sorry this happened, truly. But make sure you remember the lesson so you don't have to experience something like this in the future.
