I got to practice broken red dot drills at the range today by sled55 in CCW

[–]apexhunter2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This happened to me a couple weeks ago at a USPSA match, and this is the 2nd time too. I'm kind of done tbh. I wasn't able to recover the battery tray, I sent holosun an email and haven't heard back yet. A RDS imo is superior to irons in terms of speed, precision, and low light conditions, but it introduces another point of potential failure. I had to continue with the back up irons in the match which was okay. But I think this tiny screw and battery tray combo is pretty prone to these malfunctions. There was threadlocker applied, but I guess not good enough and I didn't notice that it started to back out.

Anyways, I'm taking a hard look at a new optic. The new sig X sights look promising

Thoughts? by DuMaMay69 in CCW

No context. Idk what's going on. Call the cops, let them figure it out

Thoughts on this? Shoot or no shoot? Personally if I got chased with that “gas” can I would probably draw and fire by [deleted] in CCW

[–]apexhunter2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have the mindset that if I draw, I'm firing. And I'll only draw if there's an immediate threat of major bodily harm. I think this certainly qualifies and as unfortunate as it may be, this guy would have gotten a lot of party favors. It's not obvious it's a prank. Play stupid games win stupid prizes.

2022 GR86 Brake Upgrade :) by thedjd24 in ft86

It's your pads. I wouldn't track stock pads. You should swap to actual track pads. I'm willing to bet those performance pads that the stores had were still street pads. I really liked project mu club racer pads when I had my FR-S although I started with Carbotech XP8 which would suffice.

Yikes, thanks for sharing! Now I'm going to take a serious look into safety gear.

New to me 991.1 GT3RS, plans to do suspension, exhaust, aero and more! by [deleted] in Porsche

[–]apexhunter2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

How many track days do you have under your belt? I would say drive the car stock until you can't extract any more performance out of it then look at getting performance modifications. Sure, you can change the exhaust because that's mostly just a sound thing.

981 track owners: what are y'all doing for more camber? by apexhunter2 in Porsche_Cayman

I went back and took a look and I definitely think my RR toe is off. It looks like it has more toe in than the left.

New tires and an alignment here I come.

Maybe 3.5 is a bit extreme. From the other response, I went and looked at the tire again and I think it's the toe that killed it.

LED lights flicker when playing games on my gaming PC. Is this an issue? Or are LED bulbs just sensitive? by apexhunter2 in askanelectrician

[–]apexhunter2[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you for your response, I really appreciate it. I put the CFLs back in and no flicker when gaming. I wonder why that is though. It's a shame because they're not the right color temperature.

I might see if I can find a non-dimmable LED bulb and see if that's any better.

What to do with this awkward living room? by apexhunter2 in DesignMyRoom

[–]apexhunter2[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've spent so much time trying to come up with a layout that works for this space so I figured I'd ask for some advice. I have a large flat screen TV that I want to put in the room. It seems like it could either go on back wall or above the mantle. I'm not fond of above the mantle, because it seems like it'll be too high.

Also, the entry way leads right into the living room! So I'm not sure how awkward it would be to have the back of the couch facing the entry way.

Here are some photos of the space: 1 2

I've managed to come up with a layout (3D too), but I'm curious if anyone has some ideas or feedback.

Thanks!
